Chapter Thirty-Two The Escape When I opened my eyes I was lying in a bed surrounded by the Bishop, the Prefect, Dr. Doral and Mother Superior. Where was Mr. Kristoff? Why wasn’t I at The Sanctuary? Dr. Doral touched my forehead. “The fever has past,” the Doctor said. Confused, I looked down at my body. The ropes were gone. I touched my throat. Kristoff’s room key and necklace had been removed and the gold cross was once again around my throat. I slipped my hands under my gown to touch my breasts.
