Chapter 3

344 Words
"Warren," I said in a voice so calm it was frightening, "help me investigate my delivery records from back then. I want every detail. I suspect my child was switched at birth." I had always believed that my own flesh and blood… the child I had raised with my own hands and showered with love… could never hate me so deeply or betray me so completely. "I found it!" Warren replied ten minutes later, shock evident in his voice. "The hospital's hidden records show that Abby gave birth in the same hospital on the very same day as you! Her baby was registered as a stillbirth, but the attending nurse was actually her aunt by marriage! And your son's actual blood type is O." The waves gently rocked the life ring, but a crushing sense of suffocation engulfed me. Type O? How could a child be type O when I am type A and Roldan is type B? So the child I had risked my life to give birth to… the child I would have sacrificed everything to protect… was truly not my own. Then what about my real child? Had my baby died long ago? "Trina, are you okay?" Warren asked worriedly. I gripped the radio tightly, struggling to suppress the rage and grief churning inside me before speaking hoarsely, "Send this information to every media account we work with. Buy the top trending spot. Make the headlines explosive." "For example?" "The Woods Corporation CEO and his mistress conspired in a child swap," I said coldly. "A fake heiress replaced the real heir… and after ten years, Roldan and Abby's secret affair is finally out in the open." "Understood," Warren replied seriously. "Should I release it now?" "Wait for my signal." I looked up at the completely darkened sky, my eyes filled with icy hatred. "Wait until they're at their proudest moment... then deliver the fatal blow." I took one last look at the 'happy' family photo on my phone. 'Roldan, Abby, go ahead and smile. Very soon, you won't be smiling anymore.'
