I wake up with a heavy heart, replaying the events of last nigh over and over in my mind. I should not have tested her, I should have trusted her.
The empty space beside me reminds me of the void Natalie has left in my life. I can't bear the thought of losing her, not after realizing she is my mate. I had of course tried calling her, and to go to her place, but no answer and she is gone.
Determination surges through me as I decide to find her, no matter what it takes. I try calling her again, but it goes directly to her answering machine.
I sigh and dial my beta, Mallon. He has always been a reliable source of advice, and I trust his judgment. Even if he did not trust Natalie, I do know he was just doing his job as my beta. The phone rings, and after a few moments, he answers.
