Levi and I hurry into my parents house, our footsteps echoing with urgency. My heart pounds in my chest, anxiety gripping me tightly. Levi grabs my hand squeezing it reassuringly.
The sight of my mom, tears streaming down her face, breaks my heart. She leaves the police officer she was talking to and comes over to hug me, her embrace offering a small sense of solace.
"Hi mom," I say, my voice filled with both sadness and relief, at least she is okay. “What happened?”
