Samantha is Cassandra's father. He was born in 1958. He retired from a foreign-owned petroleum company, and was rarely home. After retirement, he reminded active in social work. He was weel-known to most goverment officials, as his criticism were popular in the community. He initiated road repairs, the construction of places of worship, and the development of youth character through community organization.
Samantha never told anyone about his illness. The cardiac attact suddenly struck when he had just returned home from work. He felt extremely thirsty and asked for water. Then, he loss consiousness. He was immediately rushed to the hospital. His kidneys were also affected by the attact. They could no longer produce urine and requiring continuous hemodialysis. He only survived for 7 days in hospital after that attack.
His wife, Nathalia, was a nurse in private hospital. She was born in 1964. She worked in the operating room, specializing in adult heart repair. She was very busy with her activities. Most of her time was spent at the hospital. Sometimes, she travelled with her team to other cities to perform surgeries. She has been retired for about 3 years, now her activities are mostly at home. She could made various kinds of cakes, cookies and breads. She started a catering services with Cassandra after her husband's death.
Dean is Samantha's first son-in-law. He was born in 1983. He graduated from a state university. His major is instrumentation physics. He used to work in a French's company. After their marriage, Cassandra asked him to move permanently to Jakarta. Her requests was reasonable, since only Cassandra who lived near her parents. Both of her siblings worked in other cities that far away from Jakarta. Currently, Dean is working for a large, foreign-owned healthcare providers company. His responsibilities are for the building maintenance and support all facilities for its operation.
Dean's mother lives in West Java. She was born in 1956. She has 4 sons and 2 daughters. Dean is the 3rd child. Sometimes, he visits her on weekend with Cassandra and the children. His father died several years ago, before he married her. His mother lives with his eldest sisters.
Dean had known Cassandra for six years before he proposed. They went through their education stages together, eventhough they were not at the same faculty and university. However, Cassandra helped Dean for his final project. Most of Dean's friends know Cassandra well. Dean always invited her, whether it was just to eat with his friends, to the futsal or badminton court, or to work on group assignments.
At the end of her studies, Cassandra received a scholarships to Tokyo for her master's program. She was also offered a job in Sydney from the university where she attended, but she declined both of them. She prefered to accompany Dean and marry him. She continued her studies later in Jakarta after her marriage.
During their 12 years marriage, Cassandra has been quite patient with Dean's emotion. Dean is often aggresive. When he was angry, he often vents his anger by throwing or breaking things around him. He was even broken the door for several times. When things get out of hand, Cassandra usually just stays in her room, until Dean's anger subsides. She was too sensitive and could only cry silently. Dean soon realized when Cassandra was upset by his behaviour. He would apologized and tried to make her happy again.
From the beginning of their marriage, Cassandra always prepares the family's need before leaving for work. When she gets home, she usually cooks for dinner, washes the dishes also the clothes. Although they have a housekeeper, she rarely asks for help. For her, the housekeeper only does the houseworks when she is not home. She is very generous to her servants. They have worked for Cassandra since she married and lived in that house with Dean.
Cassandra never had free time, she was always looking for something to do, no matter how tired she was. She loves reading. She usually wrote journals, books, even novels to pass the time. She has thalasemia, and has lost two babies caused by it. The pregnancy was difficult for her, as she needed more blood transfusions to keep the fetus in her womb. During her hospital stays, Cassandra only needs her notebook and internet. She remained productive, even while confined to bed. Dean also monitored his wife's published writting and videos.
They had been building a food and beverage bussiness since 2015, and it is continued until 2022. They had employees to help them manage it. But it stopped when Cassandra became ill. She needed transplantation for her cornea. Afterward, she also had to replace her battery. So, Dean focus solely on his work and Cassandra's health.
Dean had an ex girlfriend, who was previously a closed friend of Cassandra. This ever had caused serious problem in their relationship. Indira, her name, once called Cassandra and wanted to come home, to meet Dean. Her family had also spoken to Cassandra's mother about her daughter's illness due to her break up with Dean.
Some times before, it was the first time, after their wedding. Dean had used Cassandra's car to transport another woman, Yasmin, another woman who closed with him. She had never been this angry with Dean. When Cassandra confrontated, he remined silent and unresponsive. He just said that the woman was pregnant, and her husband could not take her home.
After those incidents, Cassandra tried to ignore them, hoping everything would be okay forever. She never asked anymore questions about the two woman. And so did Evan. They tried to improve communication and enjoy as much family time as possible. Everyday, Dean drove Cassandra to her office. They went on vacations as often as possible.
They have 3 sons, that already independent and self sufficient. They can manage their time between school, extracurricular activities, and courses well. One of their constant habits is eating together. Whenever possible, even when they are very busy, they always eat together.
Dean and Cassandra love sports and outdoor activities. They often take their children camping, playing sports at the stadium, or simply walking along the beach and in the mountains. Their children are able to swim, archery, play volleyball, badminton and football well. Their first child, who is currently in junior high school, is a volleyball athlete.
Since Cassandra stopped working, they have had more time together. They could eat breakfast and dinner together every day. Afterward, Dean takes the kids to school and Cassandra goes to the library or her parents' house. They work together to share tasks and support each other to achieve their family's goals. Dean agreed for Cassandra to go to Germany. He also began preparing himself and the children to learn German.
