19 When the final sun fell beneath the horizon, there was little difference to the city. Zaviana watched carefully from the dark alleyways. Torches lit up everything, and she wondered if they were filled with oil or if some kind of magic set them off. At first, she imagined them to be oil based, but when they witnessed them all turning on at the same time, it aroused her suspicion. Fewer people roamed the streets at night, but overall, the difference wasn’t significant. The largest benefit would be the guards not being able to recognize her and her companions as they traveled.
