“Okay um sure”, Jennifer said a little puzzled but put on her shoes and grabbed her jacket. She passed Rose, but before she pulled the door close behind her, she gave her a small, sly smile and whispered in a faked sympathetic tone “hope you can sort it out.”
She shut the door and her words, her warning echoed in Rose's head. Arnold isn’t the one to stick around and go out with her. She directed her eyes towards Arnold and had to blink away the tears pricking her eyes.
“Wait here, I’ll quickly put on a shirt”, he said and disappeared upstairs, which gave her a little time to collect herself if possible.
She didn’t even bother to go into the living room and sit down on the couch because she wasn’t going to stay. She wanted to get out of that house as soon as possible.
