Chapter Six: truths

“Arnold, I need to tell you something”, Rose said. Her voice tone sounded super serious, serious enough to make Arnold leave all his work and gave his undivided attention to Rose.

“Yes baby, everything all right?”, he asked a little worried.

“Well you might have noticed that since the night we ‘did that’ I have been avoiding you……”,

Arnold nodded at her words, agreeing.

“Well it’s because, I don’t know whether I should say this or not definitely I should not but not telling you might be unfair to you, and you mean a lot to me, so I don’t…”,

Arnold got up from his place and took Rose in his embrace. “Shhh, calm down, love. Tell me what’s in your heart straightforwardly, you know we are best friends before anything else, right? ”,

Arnold words undoubtedly made Rose calm down, she slowly nodded her head and took a deep breath and closed her eyes.

“Arnold it’s just that, remember you told ne that you love me and asked me to say it back and, I said it back”, Rose said

“You don’t love me? ” Arnold asked, stepping away from Rose.

“I don’t know, I have feel like I have forgotten what love feels like and that’s why I thought I should tell you ”,

Arnold smiled at her words. “Why are you smiling, like aren’t you sad? ”, Rose, raised her brow after seeing him smile.

“Nope, why would I feel sad? There’s nothing to feel sad for. I think since you confessed something, I should confess something too.” Arnold got back to his desk and pulled out a diary like thing from his drawer. “You forgot this at my apartment I really didn’t want to read it, but a piece of paper dropped, and I could not control my urge to read it… … ”,

“S-sso you h-have rr-ead it-t?”, Rose stuttered.

“Yes baby girl and I love the fact that I love you but….”,

“but… ?”,

“Care to explain what is this? ”, he asked, taking out a piece of paper from the diary. Rose knew exactly what he was talking about, so she decided to run away, but that'd be impossible now since Arnold was coming close to her.

“Oh, um… that’s nothing, really”, Rose stuttered, her face crimson red. She tried to pull the piece of paper away but Arnold had put so much pressure on it with his flat hand that her fingers uselessly slid over it.

“It doesn’t look like anything”, he said, piercing her with his luring eyes, “should I read out loud to help you remember?”

“No no no”, Rose quickly said scooting forward and covered the list with her hand as well. That would be even more embarrassing.

“Than start talking”, he demanded, pulling the sheet out from under her hand and plopped down on the couch. He scanned the list, a huge smirk appeared on his face.

He looked back at her and raised his eyebrows expectantly as Rose still stayed quiet, too ashamed to open her mouth.

He cleared his throat and was about to read out loud when you stopped him. “Okay, okay. Fine”, Rose gave in and groaned. “I’m all ears”, Arnold said, grinning smugly and observed her with utmost curiosity. “As you can see, this is a bucket list -me plans Bucket list. I started it a month ago and I… Well, it was just a stupid idea”, Rose said trying to talk the whole thing down, “I actually wanted to throw it away.”

Then why did you add ‘Kiss someone in front of the Eiffel Tower’ when are

watching that movie 4 days ago?”, he asked provokingly. Damn it. He caught her red-handed.

“But you know what we can do now?”, he murmured into your ear, his lips brushing your hair.

“Hm?”, Rose asked.

“You can make your bucket list come true, use me to make that complete that pretty kinky dream list of yours”.

“What?, No Arnold, I can't, I don't love you, you deserve bett-”

“Shut up Rose, please. I don't know whether I deserve better or not. The only thing I know is that I am in f*****g love with you and I will do anything to make you fall for me too”. Arnold face was red. Red in anger, love, and fear of losing the one he loved.

“Feelings can't be forced Arnie”, Rose whispered softly.

“I know it cannot, I am not forcing you to love me, I just want you to give me a chance”, Arnold hissed.

Rose looked down on shiny floor not knowing what to reply. “Just let me help you do all those things you wrote in your list”, Arnold said. His voice soft and low.

“Okay, you get your chance Arnold but, promise me one thing. If we don't end up as a couple, you will still be by my side as my best friend like you have always been”,

“ I promise “.
