Chapter Seven

"I want to thank everyone for all the work they did to make this house our home and our new reality. I never once thought that I'd ever be where I am today. It's officially been almost a year now. I can't believe I got to work with such an amazing group of people." Evangeline said as she stood up from the bench by the fire pit. "We're just glad to see you two happy. It was a lot of work but it was worth it and you two are our family," the boss said as he took a swig of his beer. "I know you guys put a lot of work into this house that is now our home and we truly appreciate everything." Phillip said as he wrapped his arm around Evangeline. As the darkness fell upon the ranch, the fire got brighter and lit up the faces of those around it. By the time midnight hit, everyone had gone home and the happy couple headed into their house to look around. "This house is so beautiful and it feels just like home." Evangeline said as she let her curious eyes explore every detail of their new home. "It most certainly is my love. I can't believe the amount of work they put into this house. That would explain why we've been put in other areas of the ranch." Philip stated as he too looked at the details. The house was so beautiful and stunning. As Evangeline and Philip got up to their new bedroom, they realized none of their stuff had made its way to their house. "We can always go sleep in our old rooms and then pack up our stuff and bring it over tomorrow." Evangeline suggested. Philip nodded in agreement. The two walked back to the main ranch house. As they walked in the door together, Philip noticed his father sitting at the dining room table. "Hello son." he said as they walked in the house. "Hey dad, we are just gonna stay in our old rooms tonight and then we're gonna pack our stuff in the morning and get it over to the new house." Philip responded as they headed through the house and up the stairs. "I'm gonna go start packing up my room and then I'll be over." Philip told Evangeline as he kissed her on the cheek and opened the door for her. "Alright honey. I'll start packing up the stuff I don't need right away." Evangeline responded as she smiled at him. Evangeline headed into her room and started packing away all of her pictures and the small trinkets she had around her room. She didn't have much but the things she did have, she kept rather close to her. Evangeline didn't have anything except for the box she just packed, her clothes, her dog, her horse and her truck. She never had money to buy herself anything spectacular. She had dreamed of all the things she wanted that she could one day decorate her house with but she's never been able to afford it. As Evangeline continued to pack up her belongings, she thought about all of the different things she was going to need. What she would need in the kitchen, what she would need to decorate their new home with. There's was a lot she needed to think of for their new home. Evangeline continued to pack her belongings she didn't realize that she had finished packing everything. I must've really been focused on my thoughts. At least I left out my clothes I need for tomorrow. She thought as she stacked all of the boxes and bags by the desk in her room. Philip was finishing up the packing in his room and placed the boxes by the door and got ready to head to Evangeline's room. As he was walking over, he had noticed that one of the ranch hands was still up. Behind the closed door he could hear the muffled sounds of crying. "Hey man, are you alright in there?" he asked as he reached for the door knob. Nothing came out from behind the door. Philip sighed and proceeded to head to Evangeline's room. He knocked lightly. "Come in!" Evangeline said as she jumped up on her bed and turned on her tv. "I'm sorry I took so long. I see someone was busy packing." he said with a chuckle. They got undressed and headed into bed for the night. Drifter jumped up on the bed and took his spot by their feet for the night. "There's so many new changes happening in my life that I never thought could ever be possible." Evangeline said as she snuggled in close to Philip. The two spent a couple hours together watching their favorite show in bed before peacefully falling asleep. They had always made it a rule that before they fell asleep at night, they would watch a show together and talk until they fell asleep in their bed together. It was a way for them to talk about their day and relax in each other's company. It was a simple kind of living but they enjoyed it. The sun rose over the mountains and began to overlook the ranch. A new day had started and Evangeline was up bright and early moving her boxes into the back of her truck. She was ready to get things over to their new house and put away before work started. KNOCK. KNOCK. "Come in!" Evangeline shouted. "Good morning. I saw that you're getting ready to move stuff over to your new house. You and Philip won't be working on the ranch today. I'm sending you guys into town to pick up some stuff for your house and your new barn." the ranch boss had said. "There's a lot that you guys are gonna need to get for yourselves, the horses and your dog." It'll all be put on the account at the shops. Just go in and let them know John sent you." He said with a smile. "Thank you John!!!" Evangeline exclaimed as she rushed passed him with the last box. Evangeline jumped in her truck and headed over to her new house. She took all the boxes into the house and up to their room. Once everything had been unloaded out of her truck and had been put away she rushed back to the main house and ran inside for breakfast. Evangeline had woken up before the rest of the house and decided to get a head start on moving. When she returned to the main house, everyone was sitting at the kitchen getting ready to eat breakfast. "Sorry I'm late you guys. I just finished putting stuff away." Evangeline stated as she sat down at the table next to Philip. "That's ok." John said as he got ready for announcements. After breakfast was done, Philip and Evangeline jumped into her truck and headed for town.
