FOREVER YOURS

968 Words
One week passed after Elena moved into Adrian’s penthouse. Every morning began the same way. Elena woke before sunrise, prepared breakfast, organized the house, and quietly made sure everything Adrian needed for the day was ready before he came downstairs. She never expected praise. She simply believed that if someone trusted you, you should give them your best. One morning, Adrian walked into the dining room and stopped in surprise. The table was perfectly arranged. Fresh coffee. Warm pancakes. Fruit. Orange juice. His favorite newspaper had already been folded beside his plate. He looked toward the kitchen. “You did all this?” Elena smiled shyly. “I hope you don’t mind.” Adrian sat down. “I’ve lived here for years.” He looked around the spotless room. “It has never felt like a home until now.” Elena lowered her eyes, hiding the blush spreading across her cheeks. “Thank you, sir.” Adrian looked at her. “You don’t have to call me ‘sir’ when we’re at home.” She looked surprised. “What should I call you?” “Adrian.” She hesitated. “I… I’ll try.” He smiled. “Good.” Life slowly settled into a comfortable routine. Although Adrian remained busy with work, he found himself looking forward to coming home every evening. Not because of the luxurious penthouse. Not because of the peaceful silence. But because Elena would always be there with a warm smile. One evening, Adrian arrived home exhausted after a difficult meeting. He loosened his tie and rubbed his temples. Without saying a word, Elena placed a cup of hot tea in front of him. “You have a headache.” Adrian looked up in surprise. “How did you know?” “You’ve been rubbing your forehead since you came in.” He chuckled softly. “You notice everything.” She smiled. “My grandmother always said caring begins with paying attention.” For a moment, neither of them spoke. The silence wasn’t awkward. It was comforting. Meanwhile, Abraham and Anna were enjoying married life. The couple had recently moved into a beautiful home overlooking Central Park. Anna watched Abraham reviewing company reports late into the night. “You’ve been working too hard.” Abraham smiled. “I’m trying to become someone Father can always be proud of.” Anna wrapped her arms around him from behind. “He already is.” Abraham leaned back against her. “I spent so many years trying to beat Adrian.” He smiled thoughtfully. “Now I just want to become the best version of myself.” Anna kissed his cheek. “That’s why I married you.” At the Smith mansion, William’s health continued to improve. The experimental treatment was working better than anyone had expected. Although he still became tired easily, his doctors were amazed by his progress. One evening, William smiled as Lucy showed him recent family photographs. “There they are.” He pointed to a picture of Adrian standing beside Elena during a charity event. Lucy noticed the smile on her husband’s face. “What are you thinking?” William laughed quietly. “Our son doesn’t realize it yet.” “But he’s falling in love.” Lucy looked at the photograph again. “You think so?” William nodded. “I’ve watched Adrian his entire life.” “The way he looks at her…” “He doesn’t even know he’s doing it.” Lucy smiled. “I hope you’re right.” The following weekend, Adrian attended an important charity gala hosted by Smith Global Holdings. As he prepared to leave, Elena noticed something. “You’re missing your cufflink.” Adrian looked down. She was right. He laughed. “I would’ve walked into the ballroom like this.” Elena carefully fastened the cufflink onto his sleeve. For just a second… Their hands touched. Both of them froze. Neither spoke. Neither pulled away immediately. Then the moment passed. Adrian cleared his throat. “Thank you.” “You’re welcome.” As he walked toward the door, he found himself smiling for no reason. Late that night, Adrian returned home much earlier than expected. He found Elena asleep on the living room sofa. An open book rested on her lap. She had clearly been waiting for him. Adrian quietly picked up the book before gently placing a blanket over her shoulders. As he turned to leave… Elena stirred. “You’re home.” Her sleepy voice was barely above a whisper. “I didn’t mean to fall asleep.” “You don’t have to wait up for me,” Adrian said softly. She smiled. “I know.” “But I wanted to make sure you got home safely.” Adrian stood completely still. No one Not even after years of success and wealth… Had ever waited up simply because they cared. He looked at Elena differently than ever before. For the first time He wasn’t seeing his housekeeper. He was seeing the woman who made an empty penthouse feel like home. As Elena drifted back to sleep, Adrian whispered words he didn’t even realize he was thinking. “Thank you… for coming into my life.” He quietly walked upstairs. Neither of them knew That someone had secretly photographed the tender moment through the penthouse window. The mysterious man smiled as he looked at the pictures. “So” He slipped the photographs into an envelope. “The rumors are true.” “It’s time to use Elena Carter.” He made another phone call. “Phase two begins tomorrow.” Far away, danger was moving closer. But inside the penthouse Adrian and Elena had no idea that their growing feelings were about to be tested in ways neither of them could imagine.
