Ivy POV
Two men leapt from the truck and sprinted toward me Milo and Alex.
The wolves turned toward them, snarling low, fury replacing whatever twisted amusement they'd had a moment ago. Alex slowed his approach, grabbing Milo's arm, and for one long, terrible breath, they both went completely still. Then Alex's eyes found mine across the street. I saw determination there, sharp and wild, a promise that he wouldn’t let anything touch me.
The wolves launched forward.
My eyes went wide with fear as they changed direction entirely, abandoning me for the two men now standing exposed in the open.
