MICHELA;
I turned and he was standing on the last step, eyes dim and hooded. His face held a frown. I could tell he had witnessed what just happened with Nathan. Skye still stood by the door, wagging her tail.
“Yeah,” I answered, trying to keep my voice steady. “It’s really nothing you should worry about.”
“I am.” He snapped, already moving toward me. My throat tightened with each freaking step he took.
For a moment, he didn’t look like the man whose body I had been touching and taking only hours earlier. He had that same intense aura that pulled me in from the beginning rolling off him in waves. My eyes caught on the veins outlined along his forearms and my breath hitched.
“I am already bothered, kitten,” he said again, voice low and sharp. “But what’s bothering me more is why you’re stopping me from teaching that boy a lesson.”
Miles was furious. His jaw was tight, his shoulders rigid under his shirt. Instead of making me nervous, the anger made my stomach flip. It made him look even more dangerous and attractive, like my mother’s man whom I had coveted for myself. It made me remember the seventeen-year-old me, noticing him for the first time and realizing he was the kind of man I really wanted.
The man who sat by Mom’s sick bed till she breathed last. The man who chose my mom over his family, and in the short while their marriage lasted, he made sure she was comfortable.
If I was being truthful, Mom’s throaty moans late in the night or the early hours of each morning back then, made my urge even worse.
I wouldn’t blame them, they were adults, married, and honestly thought I would be fast asleep. But those were nights I had chosen to stay true to my erotica, either writing one or reading one.
I blinked my eyes, trying not to stray further. The fabric of his shirt stretched across his hardened muscles. He stood right in front of me, smelling of something woody mixed with the floral scent of the car freshener and the faint leftover scent of s*x from the hood of his car.
“You can’t do anything like that, Miles!” I stepped forward, closing the small gap between us.
The moment the name left my mouth, my face dropped to the floor. I had just called him by his first name. Gosh! The word was already out and I couldn’t take it back.
Yes, we had been intimate. Yes, I had taken him inside me and let him claim me, soiling my butt cheeks and every other part of me with his thick, hot semen. But somehow saying his name out loud to his face still felt different… Like I shouldn’t have.
The only other times I had ever said “Miles” were alone in my bedroom, legs spread out on my bed, fingers working between my thighs while I pictured him. Never to his face. Never where he could hear it.
I stood there breathing heavily, fingers twisting together, eyes fixed on the floor like it might swallow me. The silence stretched.
Then his finger rested under my chin, firm but gentle, and tilted my face up until I had no choice but to meet his eyes.
His green gaze was still dark with anger, but something softer and hotter moved underneath it now. He studied my face for a long second, thumb brushing lightly along my jaw.
“Say it again,” he said quietly.
“What?” My heart stuttered.
“My name.” His voice dropped even lower. “You just called me Miles. Say it again.”
Heat rushed up my neck and across my cheeks. I swallowed. The anger in his eyes hadn’t fully left, but it was mixing with something else… something that made my pulse race for a completely different reason.
“Miles…” I whispered.
A slow, dangerous smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. His hand slid from my chin to the side of my neck, thumb resting against my racing pulse.
“That’s the first time you’ve said it to my face, not locked up in your bedroom this time,” he murmured. “And you chose to say it while telling me I can’t protect what’s mine.”
I wanted to ask if he knew about all the times I m*********d, groaning his name and biting hard into Joan or my pillow to keep my voice down. But from the way his eyes moved, Miles had always known. He had always heard me. Damn!
He leaned in closer until his forehead nearly touched mine. The heat of his body wrapped around me.
“Wills and Words… We need to think about the cafe first…. His father would…” I stuttered, trying to calm my raging nerves.
“Nathan doesn’t get to walk into this house, insult you, delete your work, and leave without consequences,” he cut in, voice rough. “Not while I’m breathing. You can call me Miles when you’re coming on my c**k. You can call me Miles when you’re begging. But don’t ever tell me I can’t protect you.”
His other hand settled on my waist, pulling me flush against him. I could feel how hard he already was, like he wasn’t thinking about anything else but us.
“Do you understand me, kitten?”
I nodded, barely able to breathe.
“Use your words.” He ordered.
“Yes… Miles,” I whispered again, the name feeling heavier and sweeter the second time. His eyes darkened completely.
“Good girl,” he muttered, rocking his waist a little, hard c**k brushed against my thighs. “Come… Daddy got the bath ready for you.”
