TheProposal

The rain poured harder. Eliana stood frozen, staring at the man inside the Rolls-Royce. She had seen Damian Blackwood countless times on magazine covers and television interviews. He was the billionaire every business feared. Cold. Powerful. Untouchable. “What kind of offer?” she asked cautiously. Damian didn’t answer. Instead, he glanced at his driver. “Drive.” The chauffeur stepped out and opened the rear door. “I said I’m not getting in.” “You have exactly thirty seconds to decide,” Damian replied calmly. “Your father’s condition is getting worse every minute.” Eliana’s chest tightened. How did he know about her father? “Who are you?” she whispered. “I think you already know.” “No… I mean, why are you here?” For the first time, Damian looked directly into her eyes. “Because you’re the woman I’ve been looking for.” Before Eliana could respond, her phone rang. It was the hospital. “Miss Williams,” the nurse said anxiously, “we need the payment immediately. We can’t delay the surgery much longer.” “I… I’ll find the money.” The call ended. Tears burned her eyes. She had no one left to call. No relatives. No friends wealthy enough to help. Nothing. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the car. The warm leather interior felt like a different world. Damian slid a black folder across the seat. “Read it.” She opened it. The first page made her heart stop. Her eyes widened. “What kind of joke is this?” “I don’t joke.” “You expect me to marry you?” “For one year.” Eliana stared at him in disbelief. “This is insane.” “You’ll receive enough money to pay your father’s medical bills, clear your family’s debts, and start over.” She looked at him as if he’d lost his mind. “And what do you get?” Damian’s expression remained unreadable. “A wife.” Silence filled the car. Then he leaned slightly closer. “But not for love.” He wanted a contract. A fake marriage. And somehow… He had already decided she was the perfect bride.
