**UNKNOWN POV**
A low, menacing growl escapes my throat, my voice dangerously low, “Get out.”
She whimpers, clearly affected by my presence, “I just wanted to see you.”
It was Louise, the pack slut, who’d been trying to get into my pants and claim the title Luna. Almost the whole world that knew of the alpha of this pack as some entitled narcissist who was some playboy. If only they knew the half of it. However, Louise just pissed me off, and I'd only just managed to get my temperament to be managed, and it was unravelling, fast.
I growl again, this time my point gets across.
She takes the hint and bolts, just in time as I rampage on some furniture unlucky enough to get in my way.
The drive to school was silent, my Beta, Mason, and my Third, Xavier accompanied me in my car.
I was usually the one who kept to himself, not really enjoying the company of more than one person, otherwise I felt trapped. So it was no surprise how shocked my Beta and Omega were when I had told them they can ride in my car today, I never let anyone ride in my car... ever.
Finally the silence was broken, by none other than my chatty Third, “You’re in a good mood today Mav! What’s the special occasion?”
I grunt, in a constant fight with my wolf.
He laughed, a genuine laugh, “Heard you’ve been hoeing around with the pack slut, finally have someone to be our Luna?” He teased, knowing well and truly that his Alpha would never let Louise become the Luna.
Mason joined in on the laughter, however they quickly halt. Remembering I wasn't their old alpha.
We finally arrive at school, where I wish I was anywhere but, just as the bell rings, and we all head to our first class. I was with Mason in English, thankfully. So I sat at the back corner, my Beta next to me.
10 minutes into class and I smell something intoxicating, sending my wolf into a frenzy; I took a deep breath in. It's minty, and sweet, like the flowers in the forest. It smelled amazing. As if that wasn’t enough, the door opened, and two girls walked in. Focusing my attention on the tiny girl, completely flawless; she has long, curly, jet-black hair that fell to her waist, and wild green eyes. Her skin was slightly tanned, but not enough that she still didn’t look pale next to every single person in this room.
My wolf squirmed and said something that left me confused, “Mate.”
**TAZMIN POV***
Shit. That’s just perfect. I have a wolf, of all things as a mate. I swear the moon goddess hates me. I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding in. His eyes looked shocked, but he showed no trace of emotion on his face. He had dark brown skin, and gorgeous brown eyes. His hair was beautiful, to say the least, he had a buzzed undercut and dreadlocks tied back into a manbun. His face situated a light amount of stubble, growing thicker in the beard to form a baby goatie of sorts. He looked slightly too old for school, like he was a year older than a graduate, and his presence was overwhelmingly intimidating.
I mentally slapped myself before I can ogle any longer, how long had I been staring? I furrow my brows slightly, breaking eye contact, before I strolled to the other back corner by the window, slumped down in my seat and gazed out the glass.
I could feel his eyes on me, burning holes in the back of my head, but I didn’t turn around. Miranda came and took a seat next to me, looking at me curiously.
The teacher clapped her hands together, “Right! Okay, uh, class. It appears we have two new students with us today!”
I silently prayed to the moon goddess that she isn’t going to make us introduce ourselves, and failed.
“Care to introduce yourselves?” The teacher beamed.
I wanted to punch her in the face, but I settled for glaring daggers at her.
Miranda was the one who stood up first, I let out a sigh of relief, “I’m Miranda Falls, and this is Tazmin Sparrow.” She pointed to me. I love her. I give a small, fake smile and wave.
The teacher’s face faltered, “Okay… well hey! Just in time I suppose! We’re putting in a seating plan.”
I scowled at her; she wasn’t going to take my spot away from me without killing me first.
"Why don't you two tell us a bit about yourselves?" The teacher smiled enthusiastically, completely unaware of the atmosphere. I sniffed the air, scrunching up my nose in visible disgust, she was human.
I remained seated, glancing over towards my mate, and seeing he was no longer looking at me, I was slightly disappointed.
"I dislike teachers prying into my personal life." I said, my voice sounding a lot more confident then I felt.
"And you, Miranda?" The teacher's sickly fake smile never fell, only slightly faltering at my venomous response.
Miranda listed off a few things she liked, I didn't pay attention. This teacher annoyed me.
"Okay! Sweet. So... the seating plan with be in rows, up front we have Reese Avron..." She continued on and on.
“Hey slut!” A tall skinny girl whisper-shouted, “See him over there?”
The tanned girl pointed to my mate, “He’s mine, I’ll kill you if you touch him.”
I glanced at him, he looked tense and uncomfortable, maybe he didn't like the amount of people here either.
Most of the class were completely ignoring the teacher, all focused on the 'perfect' girl.
I scoffed, making everyone’s attention focus on me, “I don’t even know who that is.”
She laughed back, “That, w***e-face, is the alpha of the dark moon pack.”
Well s**t. As if having a wolf mate wasn’t bad enough, it’s a possessive alpha, just my luck.
I frowned, darn foxes mischievous behaviour, “The dark moon pack? Sounds lame.”
Miranda scoffed at me, knowing well and truly what I was doing.
That earned a handful of growls from around the room, knew it. The wolves are SO sensitive that even a stupid remark like that got inside their skin, it was sad, really.
“Don’t disrespect the pack, rogue.” Another man, sitting in front of the loner alpha called with a sense of authority. I could tell he was a Beta, and had just used his Beta voice, "Not that you'd know what that is."
I clenched my jaw; dammit I’m going to get myself killed. One thing about Foxes is that they can ignore all authority. I'm guessing rogues would get really offended by that, so I sighed, before gritting my teeth, “Why should I.”
Everyone looked taken aback.
“I’m so sorry!” Miranda suddenly yells, “I swear she means no disrespect.”
The Beta scoffed, “Hey mutt-”
I let out a powerful growl, “Don’t call her a mutt, lapdog.”
My mate’s eyes were dark; I could tell he was fighting with his wolf, he didn't seemed fazed by my remarks, but was irked never-the-less, a dangerous aura surrounding him. I felt threatened, until I smirked, damn fox and their knack for chaos and drama.
“What did you call me?” He was suddenly in front of me, easily towering over my tiny frame.
I stood up from my seat.
“Tazmin! Stop!” Miri called, distracting me.
The beta grabs my arm, receiving a booming growl from the alpha, as he snaps his desk in half, "Shut. The f**k. Up."
Mason recoiled, and I looked blatantly at this alpha, he seemed... off. I heard that the alpha was some narcissistic playboy like the previous one (knowing the dark moon pack - again a weird name to begin with - has recently been taken over), and assumed it to be true. But he seems off, unstable even.
"Miranda Falls." The teacher was pointing to a seat somewhere in the middle, next to the 'perfect' girl. She gave me a small smile, visibly shaking in fear. The teacher listed off a few more names until she got to my seat, "Tazmin Sparrow."
I let out a sigh of relief, ripping my bag from the floor.
"Maverick Peirce." The teacher pointed to the spot next to me. I stood there, looking between my mate and the teacher. I thought she was calling it out in alphabetic order!
Mason looked shocked, me (who was dissing their pack), had to sit next to Mr. Anger issues who wanted to be all alone. I roll my eyes and grab my bag, walking out the door.
***MAVERICK POV***
I wanted to shift.
Mason snapped his head towards me, “What’s the big deal alpha?”
I was furious now, at Louise and Mason. This mate of mine sending me into a frenzy, any hope of control lost to an intoxicating scent. I stand up, making Mason flinch. My wolf wanted out. A more so than normal animalistic snarl erupted a satisfying stench of fear.
The girl called Miranda sat stiff.
“What’s up with your friend, what is she… a rogue? What pack is she from? Why couldn’t she sense our authority?” Mason interrogated her, recovering quickly.
Miranda tensed, “Uh… she doesn’t have a pack.”
“So she is a rogue?” Mason spat in disgust.
I looked out the window, 'Step out of line and it's his life on the line'.
“No… she’s not a rogue.” Miranda answered, her head bowed in respect.
Everyone was confused; they could definitely tell she was a shapeshifter.
I snap my attention back, focusing my strength on containing myself. I raise my eyebrow, evoking an elaboration. I already knew the answer, with how defiant she was, the sly smiles, the twinkle in her eyes as she fought.
“A fox.” Miranda replied quietly.
Everyone gasped. Some looked disgusted. I c****d my head slightly, knowing the chaos to come.
I left, I was too old for school anyways, but they insisted, and I had to be careful. Enrolling into school was a majorly risky move, I'm can't fight it, someone could die. Not that I'd mind, but it puts him at risk.
My mind travels to my little mate.
***TAZMIN POV***
I wandered through the surrounding woods, curiously taking in the new environment, only jolting out of my trance when I hear the faint ring of the bell back at school, and sprint back, all the way to my locker.
“Have you gone completely insane?” Miranda yelled meeting me outside my locker.
“Naturally.” I replied out of breath, as if that was obvious. I lent down and gripped my knees, obviously trying to get my breathe back.
She laughed, “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“One can only hope.” I teased jokingly, before standing up, recomposed.
She faked a look of hurt, placing her hand of her chest. I laughed.
We went inside and sat at the back by the window, as per usual. The class started pooling in shortly after. I saw Mason, but to my surprise he gave me an apologetic smile. I furrowed my brows.
Math went quickly, which I was happy for. The lunch bell rang, and I dashed outside of the room as fast as I could, only to be caught by none other then the beta, holding my wrist.
“What?” I snapped coldly, almost instantly regretting it.
He looked around, no one else was in the class, “I'd like to restart.”
I looked at him, shocked to say the least.
“Although I am upset you disrespected the pack, I can understand better now." He said quietly, almost undetectable if it weren't for my heightened senses.
“It’s fine. I’m sorry too I guess. I can’t help but be defiant, damn fox blood.” I whispered while looking at my feet shamefully.
He laughed, “I’m Mason.”
Mason offered his hand; I took it and smiled, a genuine smile, “Tazmin.”
We headed to the cafeteria together, taking turns laughing at what the other had said. Mason was funny. I liked him. I could tell we were going to be good friends. We arrived together in a fit of giggles and laughter. The whole cafeteria went silent at our arrival. Not too long ago, Mason was fuming at me, and I was being my usual stubborn self. I ignored them though, suddenly uncomfortable with all the attention and grabbed a small plateful of food.
Mason looked shocked at how little food there was on my plate; he even tried to stack it up. Which only resulted in me trying to defend my plate.
“I’m only little! I can’t eat that much!” I argued, finally winning him over.
I guess he forgot how I was a fox. I slumped down next to Miranda, away from everyone. Mason headed to another table where my delicious mate was staring at me from. I blushed and looked away, remembering our previous encounter earlier.
The girl I now know as Louise slammed her tray down at our table.
“What do you think you’re playing at? Fox.” She said that last word with complete disgust.
