45 Saxon I cross the road from the chambers. It took less than ten minutes for me to be officially released. The Agent watched on the whole time. His presence was a reminder that my freedom might be a temporary thing if I can’t deliver the promised goods. There was something else about the Agent that gave me a feeling of familiarity. It might have been a mannerism or gesture, but I can’t quite place what it was. A sharp whistle floats my way. A call and respond sound from my youth. I know Elgee is around here somewhere.
