32 Kerina I wake to see Lariel curled up tightly on the floor. Saxon gave up his mattress for her while he slept on the couch. Lariel looks peaceful, younger than when she is awake. Happy memories of her came trickling back through the night. Sharing stories, playing together, and doing school lessons with my father. He taught us history and reading, but he also taught us life skills. Things like starting fires and how to look for food in the wastelands. It was he who taught us self-defence.
