Writer Benefits will be disqualified should any of the following conditions occur:

a) Improper Means to Obtain the Writer Benefits

Writer Benefits are provided to the writers in consideration of qualified content only.

If the writer has obtained the Bonus through inappropriate means, the Bonus incentive for that month will be rejected.Please note that all discrepancies will be noted and writers will have to rectify events within the week. Should there be a second occurrence, this will result in the writer losing all rights to qualify for the writer's benefits. However, please note that should the matter be grave from the first occurence,Stary will not hesitate to cancel the writer's rights to the all writer's benefits entirely.

Where the writer has used improper means to obtain any of the Writer Benefits, Stary may take any of the following actions against excess benefit amounts accrued or paid to the writer to enforce Stary’s rights pursuant to any applicable Writer Benefits rules, regardless of whether any of the Writer Benefits have been actually paid: Claiming from the writer excess benefits amount already paid. Deducting or setting off excess benefits amount from any current or future sum payable to the writer. Disqualifying the writer from receiving additional benefits and/or writing contest awards for three months or longer. Claiming damages from the writer for Stary's losses.

Pursuing any other legal or equitable remedies that may be available to Stary under all applicable laws.

Examples of improper means include but are not limited to the following:

publishing content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, plagiarizing the writer's own prior works or prior works of others, uploading irrelevant content (symbols, lyrics, movie reviews, garbled characters, meaningless words, etc.) or duplicate content, unreasonably modifying or deleting a large amount of published content, or violating any other Stary's Writer Benefits rules.

b) Failure by the story to meet any of Stary’s standards and requirements

To bring our readers a better reading experience, and to reward stories that are truly compelling, wonderful, and captivating, only the story that complies with Stary’s standards and requirements while passing Stary’s editorial review can be eligible for Writer Benefits.

Accordingly, Stary has the right to require the writer to rectify the content if the content does not meet Stary’s standards and/or requirements, provided that

(a) the story will not be eligible for any Writer Benefits during the rectification period;

(b) the story will not be eligible for any Writer Benefits if (1) the writer fails to complete the rectification process within the time frame agreed upon with the editor or (2) if the rectified story is still unable to pass the editorial review.

For reference, here are some basic standards and requirements of editors in their review of manuscripts. To clarify, the following is intended to be examples only and not exhaustive.

-The story has a basic outline and should be the writer’s original creation, not an imitation or a work of plagiarism.

-The main storyline is clear, the plot is coherent, and without irrelevant content.

-Plot and character creation are coherent, without incorporating sensitive elements such as religious and political issues or personalities.

-Neat and compelling in writing, without duplicate content and meaningless description.

*Please note that this new Writer Benefit Rules are retroactive in effect. Stories that signed up with Stary before the effect date of this new Writer Benefits Rules but are deemed poor in content quality must be rectified on or before December 31, 2022, and be approved by the editor, or will be disqualified from the Writer Benefits entirely.

c) Where applicable, violation of any term of the exclusive license agreement with Stary

The Writer will be disqualified from all Writer Benefits when he/she breaches any term or conditions of the exclusive license agreement, if applicable, entered into with Stary. Examples of violation include licensing or posting any story, that has been signed with Stary exclusively, to any third party’s platform without Stary’s prior written consent.

In addition to the disqualification of Writer Benefits, STARY reserves the right to claim indemnification and pursue any other legal or equitable remedies (including but not limited to, a claim for refund of all Writer Benefits bonus) against the violating Writer.

Since 2019, with an original aspiration to help those who dream of being a writer, Stary has launched a series of welfare programs to encourage writers to chase and reach their writing dreams.

Through four years of hard work, we have made great progress. We witness a lot of novice gradually become experienced writers and share their works with readers worldwide. Under such circumstances, the current welfare program needs a revision not only to match the growth of the writing families but also to provide professional writers with more opportunities.

Therefore, Stary is about to add a new Writer Advancement Program and corresponding writer welfare from January 1, 2023, which is expected to inspire passionate writers to create more fascinating works.

Writer Advancement Program and Corresponding Welfare

To meet the general demand of writers, we plan to launch a Writer Advancement Program and corresponding welfare. Specifically, the writer’s previous revenue to the platform will be calculated based on initial credits, with which writers can reach higher grades and receive corresponding welfare.

Illustrations

From January 2023 onwards, the platform will give writers corresponding credit and set up corresponding share rewards based on the personal revenue earned from all signed works under the contracted writers' names. In other words, the individual income earned by the writer from January 2020 to the present will be calculated as initial credit and decides the writer's starting grade. The Writer Advancement Benefits are calculated independently based on the royalty income of the English work in that month, without interfering with each other

The advance plan and bonus are as follows:

Calculation

* 1 Credit = 100 Coins, the current month's credits = total credits of previous exclusive works+ total credits of previous non-exclusive works* 50%

(Calculation Period: From the first day to the last day of the month and the current month's credits will be updated on the first day of the following month).

* Writer Advancement Grade calculation duration: On the last day of each month, the performance of the work, the type of contract, and the status of the contract will all be considered and generate the corresponding credits. Accordingly, the writer grade will be adjusted and displayed on the first day of the following month. writers will be notified by inbox and can check the details of the amount of advance welfare that has taken effect in the bill.

When writers accumulate certain credits, they will reach different grades and credits, receiving corresponding welfare. The specific rules are as follows:

For already signed works

The month the writer advances, the ongoing work with the highest income will receive the advance welfare corresponding to the current Grade, and the specific figures will be reflected in the total income for that month.

Provided a writer has several ongoing works.

Work B,C: the ongoing works;

Work A: the ongoing work with highest income;

Work D,G: newly signed works with Stary.

For example, a writer advances from Bronze to Silver on February 1, 2023, and she has three ongoing works, A, B, and C, already signed. The work A income in February is $5,000, ranking top among the three in February. Then work A can get an extra bonus in February: $5,000*0.5%=$25. The bonus details will appear in the February billing statement first but will be subject to a certain review period before being withdrawn.

For newly signed works

For new works signed with Stary after the writer has advanced, from the month of signing, the work will receive the advance welfare corresponding to the current grade, and the specific figures will be reflected in the total income for that month.

For Example, a writer advances from Bronze to Silver on February 1, 2023, and signs a new book (work D) with Stary on February 10th. Her work D's income in February is $1,000, then work D's extra bonus in February is $1000*0.5%=$5. Namely, work D can get an extra $5 advance bonus in February.

The situation that may affect the credits

The writer advance system and the corresponding benefits are a special program set up by Stary in order to maintain a good partnership with writers and to motivate creators to be more professional. Therefore, there are also requirements for writers.

a. Have a regular update: If all works under the writer's name stop updating for more than three months, Stary has the right to call off the advance of the writer's welfare grade. Subsequently, each time the writer hasn't updated for three months, he or she will descend one grade.

b. Have a cooperation with the platform in a friendly manner: If a writer violates the contract or violates the rules of the platform, Stary will lower the welfare grade of the violator depending on the severity of his or her action.

For examples If a writer advances from Silver to Gold on June 1, 2023, and work A is the highest earning work among all ongoing works under her name. Then she signs a new work G with Stary on June 5, then work A and G will receive a 1% monthly welfare bonus starting in June.

If a writer descends from Gold to Silver in October 2023, her advance welfare for books G and A will be reduced from 1% to 0.5%, but work D will remain unaffected for the time being. If she subsequently descends from Silver to Bronze , the advance welfare for books A, D and G will be reduced from 0.5% to 0%.

When you start to write

You could get the 50 USD New Story Bonus for every signed Story when you've updated more than 30,000 words to the Story.

If you keep updating the Story

You could get the 150 USD Daily Update Bonus EVERY month.

Writers will receive the bonus when

1. Publish at least a new chapter to one single Story daily with a maximum of 2 days absent allowed per calendar month;

2. Publish at least 50,000 words to this Story in that month.

* Writers can claim this bonus only once per month with a single story after meeting the requirements mentioned.

* After claiming the Daily Update Bonus 3 times from this Story, writers can continue to claim the Daily Update Bonus only if the Pay-to-read earnings (writer's part) from this Story are above 20 USD that month.

* The numbers of updating days and words are calculated based on UTC+0.

The amount of bonus will vary depending on the total word counts of each completed Story.

Long-Form Bonus

Bonus Description:

Works that meet the requirements on the last day of each month will receive the corresponding royalty income increase incentive according to the word count gradient they are in that month.

Simply said, the higher your word count, the higher your revenue! Have a look at the corresponding increase based on the number of words you write.

That is, the monthly revenue = the contracted royalty income * (1 + X)

* The contracted royalty income means Pay-To-Read earnings (writer's part)

For Example:

An on-going signed book A reaches 330,000 word counts by July 31, with a royalty income for the month of July in the amount of 1000 USD.

After adding the Long-Form Bonus, the writer would be able to get an extra 20% of the royalty income, which means his/her July income would be in total US$1200 (1000+1000*20%).

If the writer continues updating in August and book A reaches 510,000 word counts by August 31, with a royalty income for the month of August in the amount of 2000 USD.

After adding the Long-Form Bonus, the writer would be able to get an extra 40% of the royalty income, which means his/her August income would be in total US$2800 (2000+2000*40%).

Requirements:

1. Applicable language: English

2. Works that are signed with Stary under an exclusive contract and meet one of the following conditions:

a. Signed after July 1, 2022 (inclusive).

b. Signed before July 1, 2022 (not included) but the work is not completed before July 1, 2022.

Other notes

1. The New Writer Benefits take effect from January 1, 2023. Writers can check their January bills for benefit changes in early February.

2. The Long-Form Bonus are calculated independently based on the royalty income of the English work in that month, without interfering with each other

3. Writer Advancement Benefits and Long-Form Bonus are only for income of the Pay-To-Read. Income of derivative forms other commercial form are not included.

4.If writers obtain the Writer Benefits improperly, their Writer Benefits in that month might be disqualified and revoked after being reviewed by content team (see more here).

5. The cancellation of the Writer Benefits will not affect the rights, obligations and terms of other agreements.

6. All of the above are based on UTC+8 in Singapore, where STARY is located.

7. Different language business areas of STARY have the final right to interpret the issuance of their bonuses and benefits.
