Chapter Two

2210 Words
I make my way through the forest as the memories of yesterday is haunting my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about how his eyes look like the forest, therefore I decided to come here so I could see the resemblance up close. I walk down the unfamiliar path, my eyes wandering over the wild trees dancing in the weak wind. Suddenly a noise can be heard, and my head snaps in the direction it is coming from. Out from behind the trees appears Harry looking exactly as he did when he jumped out of the window. Shirt open, barefoot, and messy hair. "On the run again, I see," I speak up gaining his attention. He stops and looks at me in surprise. "Hello again, love." He says walking closer to me. "Who are you on the run from this time?" I ask lifting up my dress as I too walk closer to him, careful not to step on it. "A girl desperately in love with me." He says with a proud smile on his face as if he has accomplished something great. "Foolish girl," I comment, and a chuckle falls from his lips. "Do you have something against shoes, or do you just always forget them?" I ask looking down at his feet. "To put them on requires time, and I don't have much of that when I'm being chased by someone." He too looks down at his bare feet, before we both look up at each other again. His eyes take me in for the first time since he appeared through the trees. "I have never understood how someone can fall in love with another in just one night," I tell him shaking my head ashamed of the poor girl he's running from. "No? Then what does a man have to do to win your heart?" He asks intrigued as he walks over to a tree, and lean up against it. "Give me a man, who is man enough to give himself just to the woman who is worth him. If that woman were me I would love him alone, and forever." I reveal to him, as I too walk over to the tree he is leaning against, letting my finger draw circles on the oak. "I have no chance then?" He asks taking in my words. "The chances are slim." I look up at him through my lashes with a faint blush on my cheeks. He is just about to answer when a gunshot fills the air. "What was that?" I ask in a panic knowing the person with the pistol is close. "That, my dear, is the father of the foolish girl." He tells me getting ready to run away once again but stops. "Come with me." He says reaching his hand out for mine. "Are you mad? I am not risking getting a bullet in the head." I tell him not moving from my spot. "He is coming closer, and then you will be here alone when he comes." He tells me making me second guess my words. "We don't have time, Mira." He rushes me impatiently. I don't even get to open my mouth before he throws me over his shoulder, and makes a run for it. I am surprised at how fast he is especially with me hanging over his shoulder. I can see the man chasing us, but he is still far behind. With every step, Harry takes my stomach slams into his shoulder cutting my breath of for a second. However, I don't have time to react as we suddenly start to fall down into a wet substance. He loses his grip on me, and I immediately swim towards the surface to reveal that we fell in a lake hidden behind tall grass. Harry soon appears on the surface with a laugh finding the situation amusing. "Come on, love, you have to admit that it was quite funny." "Does it look like-" I don't get to finish since he hushes me. "Wha-" He hushes me again looking around the lake. My eyes follow him to see what he is looking at, and soon sees the man we are running from approaching the water. I react as quickly as I can and pull Harry under with me. I keep him under for a while, and I am surprised that he lets me. I look at the man through the water. He looks around, and into the lake, but the water is dark so there is no chance he will see us. He looks around a little more before he disappears. I wait a few seconds to know he is really gone before I pull us both backup. The first thing Harry says is, "Clever. Would think you were the one that is used to doing this." "You don't have to be used to doing things in order to actually use your brain to prevent yourself from being shot by an angry father," I tell him after I roll my eyes as I swim towards the ground. "You can't deny the pleasure of the rush you felt." He says swimming over to me as I lift myself up from the water. My dress is drenched, and I know it will be too heavy to walk in. "The rush of possible death? It might have been thrilling, but it is definitely something I can live without." I tell him as I stand up, and untie the knot of my dress. His eyes suddenly turn interested in my actions and follow my every movement. "Since you don't like the rush of possible death you most likely don't wish it upon anyone else either, so you better not take that dress off, if you do it will definitely be the end of me." He says resting his elbows on the ground with the rest of his body still floating in the water. A very amused smirk is plastered on his face as he watches me open my dress. "I sure hope so, because if that is indeed what will happen I will save myself, and many other girls from a broken heart," I tell him feeling my corset finally open. I let my now loose dress fall to the ground leaving me in my underwear. He takes in my body from top to toe while he lets out heavy breaths in awe. He clears his throat bringing his eyes back up to mine. "You think I have the power to break your heart?" He asks now suddenly very intrigued. He lifts himself up from the water, and sit down at the very edge. "No, not yet, but you are a dangerous one," I tell him walking closer to him before I squat down coming eye level with him. His eyes travel over my body now getting a closer look. It is now my time to clear my throat tearing his eyes off me. "Now would you mind being a gentleman, and lending me your shirt?" I ask reaching my hand out for it. "Why? To cover that up would be a shame." He says with a sly smile making me stand up ready to walk away knowing he will never let me walk around like this. "Fine, here." He says making me stop, and turn around to see him removing his shirt. Now it is my turn to stare at him, taking in his body as he opens his shirt and pulls it off. He has amazing physic, it is no wonder women desire him as much as they do. He reaches his shirt out, and I take it quickly, putting it on. It only reaches to my mid-thigh, but that's enough. "Hey, you two." We hear a voice shout out in the distance, turning our attention towards the voice. The old man is standing far away with a gun pointed at us, and before I can even think Harry takes my hand and drags me after him while he runs away from the old man. We run in fear, nevertheless a bright smile is plastered on our faces from the thrill. Our hair is floating in the wind because of our fast pace, and I swear this is the closest thing I have come to flying. I often think that if I had the ability to fly away I would, however this time it's different because now I wonder what it would be like to take Harry with me. We manage to lose the man amongst the trees as we run up the long hill, and we are more than certain the old man has given up by now. We approach the top of the hill, and as we finally make it there we both stop speechless at the view before our eyes. The moon has now made it to the middle of the sky lighting up our village, and stars are scattered all around the night sky making it look as beautiful as ever. Harry walks closer to the edge, and close his eyes while he lets the wind dance around his body. He opens his eyes slowly before sits down almost at the very end. "Come here." He says turning back to meet my eyes. "I am perfectly fine over here, thank you," I tell him looking at the edge in fear. "Don't tell me you are scared of heights." He says throwing his head back disapproving of my fear. "I would not say scared, I think terrified is more suiting." I cross my arms making a point that I will not move from this spot, but Harry has something different in mind. He stands up and walks over to me. He takes a hold of my arms, and uncross them. "I promise you that you will not fall." He takes my hand, and lead me towards the end. At this moment he surprises both me and himself because I find myself trusting him. My breath gets heavier the closer we get to the edge. When we are almost at the edge he sits down once again. "Calm down, love." He says as he drags me down with him, placing me between his legs. It takes a few seconds, but once my breath is normal again I lean backward, pressing my back against his chest while his arms wrap around my body, letting me know that he won't let me fall, at least not alone. I let myself sink into his touch as silence hangs over us. Harry is a dangerous man for me to be around because only after two days of knowing him I find myself trusting him. I have never trusted a man this carelessly before. "Tell me something about you." He says breaking the silence. His words bring my brain into a state of search, looking for a moment I was truly happy. "You will never see me happier than when I'm standing in the rain with thunder striking down beside me," I tell him remembering all those nights running out to an open field letting the clouds drench me in their tears. "Why is that?" He asks curiously about my out of the ordinary feeling of happiness. I turn my head a little so I am able to look at him. His eyes are already searching for mine when I do. "Because for once the chaos isn't in my head, but everywhere else." His hand finds it's way to my cheek, moving a strand of hair out of my face. His face holds a warm smile as if he knows exactly what I am talking about. "What is your favorite thing?" I ask him searching his eyes for the man everyone says he is, but that man is nowhere to be seen. "The moon." He says moving his eyes away from mine to look at it. "Why?" "Because it is the only source of light in the dark, and it is quite beautiful, is it not?" He says admiring the gloving moon floating on the sky. "It is indeed," I tell him as I watch the moon's light hit his face. It seems to bring out his best features and put shadows on his dimples almost making it look like he is smiling. "When I was little my mother told me that the moon was a woman searching for her lost love in the dark. I sometimes sit up at night and watch the moon, and wonder if she is the only women that are permanent in my life." My heart brakes a little by his words, revealing a part of why he is the way he is. He searches in every woman for love that last one night, because he believes no one is able to love him for longer. I will not tell him I know part of the reason behind his charade, I will simply show that it is alright. Before I can say another word he speaks up once again "I think it's time to head back now." "Yes." I agree as I stand up, and he follows my actions seconds later. We fall silent once again not feeling the need to say another word as we make our way back to our separate homes.
