As Jake spoke, Ryder's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "What are you talking about, Jake?" he growled.
Jake smiled, a cold, calculating smile. "I'm talking about your father's death," he said. "I'm talking about the truth."
Emily's heart skipped a beat. What was Jake talking about? What truth?
Ryder's eyes flashed with anger. "My father's death was an accident," he said. "A car accident. What are you insinuating?"
Jake shrugged. "I'm not insinuating anything," he said. "I'm just stating facts. Your father's death was no accident. It was murder."
Emily's eyes widened in shock. Murder? What was Jake talking about?
Ryder's face went white. "That's not true," he said. "My father's death was an accident. I know it was."
Jake laughed. "You don't know anything, Ryder," he said. "You don't know the truth. But I do. And I'm going to tell you."

Jake smiled. "Your father was involved in some shady dealings," he said. "He was involved with some bad people. And they killed him."

Ryder's face went white. "That's not true," he said. "My father was a good man. He wouldn't get involved in anything shady."
Jake shrugged. "Believe what you want," he said. "But I know the truth. And I'm going to tell you."
