I approached the detention room that I was in only about two hours ago. Rather than being here for half an hour, I’ll be here for an hour and a half, which is terrible. A few people were already seated; most of them leaning back in their seats carelessly as if nothing was wrong with sitting in detention for what must be the thirtieth time this marking period. I noticed a nerdy boy sitting in the back of the class. I recognized him from my physics class; he is always the first to raise his hand. “What are you doing here?” His eyes darted up and he wrinkled his nose as if studying me.
