The summer holidays came and everyone was in a festive mood. She packed her bags to join her annoying family for Christmas. She knew that they would suck her to bleeding money. She had nowhere else to go because she had no one. Her heart was aching, and she left her employer’s place to join the villains who were called her family.
She tried to collect herself and join the spirit of festivity just like anyone else. She looked beautiful though she had not many clothes to wear. She made preparations for them to have decent meals during Christmas. She used up all her savings to try to make her home a warm place to stay.
The stepmom and her daughters would dine on the table laughing while she was serving them. They would not even talk to her except when they want money to enjoy themselves. She would sit in the shelter thinking about her future.
One day, while she was preparing breakfast for her stepmom and sisters, she heard them talking about the lavish party that was going to take place at the royal place. They were very excited because they were the party animals. They were the life of every party. The party without them was boring, they reckoned.
Every girl wanted to be a part of the party. Even the top celebrities were invited. The singers and dancers. So, she was going to be the only one to miss the party. Her heart was aching. Her step-sisters bought new clothes to look good for the big day. It was rumored that the king was under pressure. The royal elders wanted him to get married. They told him to bring or introduce his girlfriend to the royal family, but it seemed that the handsome prince was too busy to be involved in a romantic relationship. In other words, he was single. The elders were thinking about picking someone they knew to be his bride. That woman the elders were talking about was not his ideal partner. “ You can’t lead a nation as an unmarried man, you have to do something”, they reprimanded him. That is why he decided to look for his ideal partner. “Maybe I will find someone soon”, he thought to himself.
Every girl was there to attend the party except Mary. She sat in the shelter and sobbed bitterly. Why did she have to be different from other girls, she kept asking herself. There she was cooking, cleaning while her sisters were attending the party. While she was crying she heard footsteps of a person coming to the shelter. She quickly wiped her tears and looked at the entrance of the shelter. To her amazement, it was Chelsea. She jumped with joy and went on to give her a tight hug. It had been a long time since they saw each other.
They had a lot to catch up with. They talked about everything that had happened in their lives. Chelsea noticed that she was crying, and she asked her the reason for her crying. She told her the whole story. Chelsea stood up quickly and went for a while. She came back with a parcel. She asked her to open it. It was a beautiful dress and shoes. There was also make-up and beautiful earrings. She helped her to dress up and plaited her hair differently. She was strikingly gorgeous. The dress complemented her perfect figure. The shoes were beautifully matched with the dress. Chelsea also gave her a beautiful necklace and a clutch bag. She was perfect.
The party had already started, so Mary organized transport for her. She arrived at the party in a latest Mercedes-Benz that everyone was crazy about. Everyone turned their heads as she walked across the floor to join the other girls. She was a queen of the moment. Even her step-sisters did not recognize her. In fact, everyone thought she was a celebrity of some sort.
Before she joined the crowd, the prince sent one of his bodyguards to fetch the lady to join them at the table. Mary walked gracefully to the table to join the most important guests. She was given a glass of champagne. The prince ordered the party attendants to bring the most delicious snacks for them. They talked and laughed until the party was almost over. She remembered that Chelsea begged her to come back before the party was over because she needed the dress to attend an event that would take place in her hometown. And the driver of the Mercedes-Benz offered to fetch her back, so Chelsea would not miss the event.
She stood up quickly and told the prince that she was rushing somewhere. The prince tried to stop her, but she had already gone. He chased her but when he got outside the car she was in, and sped off leaving only the dust behind it. The prince looked very worried because they were starting to get along very well. He stood there wondering if he would ever see her again. She even forgot her name.
He noticed that there was something that fell when the car was leaving the entrance of the gate. He rushed off to pick it up. It was her beautiful bracelet that her employer presented her during her birthday. The prince looked at the bracelet closely and noticed that there were initials engraved in it. The initials M.M were in the inside of the bracelet. It was an expensive piece of jewelry. He put it in his pocket. He went inside to join the party but could not concentrate. He was thinking about the beautiful lady she was chatting with.
The party was over, and the prince sent word to the village that she was looking for the owner of the expensive bracelet he found at the gate. He was sure that the owner was anxiously looking for it. His guards went to all the directions of the village to look for the owner of the bracelet. Nobody recognized it. Some were trying their luck to put them on their wrists, but they would fit and, besides, their names did not match with the initials engraved on the necklace.
The guards kept on searching. The prince had even offered to give a reward to anyone who would find the owner of the bracelet. So, everyone was busy trying to find the person in question. One day they passed by Mary’s home. Unfortunately, neither of her step-sisters knew the owner. The guards asked Mary if she knew anyone who could be the owner. The stepmother intervened and told them that Mary had never been to a party. She told them not to waste their time on people like Mary. The guards insisted on asking her. She admitted that the bracelet was hers. She remembered that she missed the day she was at the party. She was thrilled to find it. The guards asked her name and she told them that she was Mary Martins. Her name matched the initials that were engraved on the necklace.
Her stepmother ensured the guards ”hat they were making a mistake. She even scolded Mary for lying to the guards of the prince. The guards took her picture and took it to the prince. The prince was thrilled he had finally found his dream girl. She was invited to dinner at the palace.
