The invitation

Mary was in front of the mirror preparing herself for the dinner she was invited to at the palace. She opened the closet and chose a beautiful dress that her employer’s daughter gave her as a Christmas present. It was still smelling fresh as it came from the box. She applied a little bit of perfume and put it on. It was a tight dress covered with long lace that reached her ankles. Its color was cream and gold. She wore high-heeled shoes that matched the golden color of the dress and plaited her long hair and it nicely at the back. She dabbed her face with the make-up Chelsea gave her, and it perfectly matched her even toned skin, making her look like the princess doll. She turned around in front of the mirror and was satisfied with the way she looked. She sighed for a moment and looked around, clutching her fists with nervousness. A car hooted outside, and she rushed off to peek through the window. It came to halt in front of the gate and she went out. The prince sent the driver to pick her up. She walked to the car like she was a princess already. The driver opened the door for her as she got into the car. He also closed it for her and the car sped off, leaving her stepmother and her daughters green with envy. They were saying all the disgusting things about her out of the bitterness of their hearts. “She does not deserve to be the royal wife”, her stepmother said bitterly. “You watch mom, she will not fit at the level of the royal family, and she will come back to us with disappointment”, one of her stepsisters said busting with laughter. They all laughed and went inside the house Mary enjoyed herself at the palace. The dining table was colorful with every kind of delicacy that was fit for the royals. They dined and wined merrily. They talked about everything, from their dreams to their future plans. The prince noticed that she was a brilliant girl, although she lacked the necessary resources. She told him that she was intending to further her studies and that made him be interested in her future plans. He promised her that he would help her to fulfill her dreams. For the first time in her life, Mary felt important and appreciated. She felt the warmth of a happy household. For a moment, she forgot about the problems she faced back at home. She enjoyed her moment of glory. She was amazed at how huge and beautiful the palace was. The decorations made it look like a little heaven. She wondered if heaven was such a beautiful thing. She remembered when her father used to tell her that her mother was in heaven. “ She is in a beautiful place indeed “, she reckoned. Her mind raced until she remembered the dream she dreamt about her parents and the prince charming. She was in deep thoughts. “ Could it be the meaning of that dream?”, She asked herself. There she was, dining with the prince. What else could she possible think about? While she was in her deep thoughts, the prince asked her to dance with him. She was dumbstruck. “Dance with the prince? She thought to herself feeling overwhelmed. The prince stood infront of her and gently pulled her arm. He led her to the middle of the room where there was an open space. A beautiful music was serenading their moment of pleasure. The prince was really charming. He hold her very close to him. She felt the warmth she never felt before. It was her first time to get closer to the man. The smell of his expensive cologne melted her heart. The prince was handsome and gently. He swinged her gently holding her waist with both his arms. There was a moment of magic. Their hearts beat faster and they were silently looking at eat other. Her heart raced and she averted her gaze crying to avoid to be in eye contact with him. The prince lifted her face gently and kissed her. She was overwhelmed and could not resist his charms. They held each other for a very long time until the music stopped. And they continued to dance after the music had stopped. Eventually, they stopped and hold each other’s hand to the dining table. They drank more wine and chatted until almost midnight. They lost the track of time and were surprised that it already late at night. Mary was offered a room to sleep at the palace. It was the guest room that was in the up stairs of the royal house. She spent the sleepless night trying to relive the events of that day. She could not believe that she was spending the night at the palace. The room was beautiful and cozy with an ensuite bathroom and a mini lounge. She was provided with everything she needed to feel at home. At last she slept peacefully and the dream about her parents and the prince charming came again. This time her parents were inside the palace as well. They took her hand and gave it to the prince. Suddenly, she woke up and it already in the morning. She did not have time to think about the dream as it was time for her to go back home. The prince made sure she did not leave hastily like she did during the time of the ball.” This time you won’t leave your bracelet behind because I have already found you”, said the prince. She smiled at made herself comfortable at the table she was invited to for breakfast. The table was filled with all kinds of food that was prepared by the chefs at the palace. It was the special breakfast for guest of the prince. After they finished eating the breakfast, the prince ordered for pianist to play a beautiful music for them. He took out a something shining from the pocket of his trouser. It was a beautiful diamond ring. He knelt in front of her and asked her to marry him.
