I'm Cursed too

690 Words
Alex’s eyes widened. Mate. The word dropped like a bomb in the room. Cold. Absolute. Irrefutable. “Go!” Lycan roared, veins bulging in his neck, chest rising with every ragged breath. “Now!” Alex bolted out of the room without another word, already linking the warriors through mind-link. “Seal the borders! No one gets in or out. Search every corner of the grounds — NOW!” Lycan was already grabbing his clothes. His hands were shaking — something that never happened. Not even during war. She ran. Why the hell did she run? He shoved his arms through his shirt, the fabric sticking to his still-sweaty chest. His scent was all over her. He claimed her. The Moon Goddess gave her to him. Then why the f**k was she gone? He stormed out of the room, the mansion buzzing with footsteps, guards snapping into action, search teams breaking off in every direction. A few Omegas huddled to the side, terrified at the sudden shift in the air. It wasn’t just fear. It was something primal. Their Alpha had gone feral. ——— Meanwhile… Luna’s breath came in short bursts as she sprinted through the thick trees of the Silver Moon forest, heart slamming against her ribs like it was trying to break out. Her feet bled. Her dress was torn. But she didn’t stop. She couldn’t. She had no right to feel what she felt last night. No right to belong to someone like him. And if he found out… if he knew the truth about her bloodline, her past, her curse— He’d never forgive her. “Keep running, Luna…” she whispered to herself, choking back tears. “For him. For your brother. For everything you can’t give him.” Her legs gave out near the outer perimeter. Just a little more. She crawled through a hidden gap between two boulders. A tight squeeze—but she knew this forest. She danced here. She ran here all her life. She could vanish before they ever— A low growl rolled through the air behind her. She froze. No. Not now. She turned slowly. He was there. Standing just beyond the treeline, shirt half-buttoned, hair wild, eyes glowing. Lycan. He looked like death and war and heartbreak—all wrapped in one towering body. Her lips trembled. “I—I had to—” “You ran.” His voice was hollow, sharp. “After what happened last night. After I claimed you.” She stumbled backward, her heel catching a root. “I didn’t mean to—” “Don’t lie to me, Luna!” His voice shattered the air, echoing through the woods. “You meant to. You left my bed. You slipped out like some thief after stealing something that belonged to me.” She shook her head, tears spilling now. “I didn’t steal anything—” “Then what the f**k do you call last night?” “I had no choice!” she snapped, her voice breaking. “You don’t know what I am. What I’ve done. You don’t want me as your mate, Lycan—” “I decide what I want. Not your past. Not your fears.” He took a step forward, eyes wild. “And I want you.” Her lip trembled. “You don’t understand. My brother—he’s dying. We don’t have time. I came here to earn enough money to save him. That was the deal. And then you—you just… you changed everything.” He was silent for a beat, chest heaving. Then—his voice softened. “I would’ve given you everything, Luna. Gold. Lands. Power. My blood. My f*****g soul.” She looked away. “You still can’t,” she whispered. “Because I’m cursed too.” Lycan stilled. The wind blew between them, catching the scent of her sorrow. He could smell it now—truth. Fear. And something ancient. Something dark woven into her essence. “Cursed… how?” he asked, voice like broken glass. “I can’t… I can’t bear a child either.”
