CHAPTER 3 ANNA'S POV My body felt cold as my stomach churned uncomfortably, my eyes darted to the nearest exit. My mind racing, trying, to come up with an excuse to leave this room. But there was no way out. I had slept with my Alpha and CEO. What had I gotten myself into? "Ahem! Alpha Klaus, this is Anna Spielberg. She is going to be the one who will lead today's presentation." My team leader said touching my shoulder and I flinched, feeling nervous. A smile touched his lips as he opened his mouth, "oh, I didn't expect to meet you here. You must have been quite in a hurry, Anna." What is he talking about? Is he trying to expose us? No matter what, it wouldn't favor him if the public found out that the CEO was having an affair with one of his employee. "Oh, you two have already met. I hope, she wasn't rude to you or anything. Do forgive her if she was, she is quite clumsy....." My team leader said laughing nervously, scratching his hair. "She’s isn't in any trouble. In fact, I quite enjoyed her company," Alpha Klaus said with a subtle smirk, his tone hinting that he enjoyed our encounter last night. What the hell? Is he messing with me? "That... that's great," my team leader replied nervously, forcing a smile. Then he leaned in close, his voice dropping to a low, threatening whisper. "You’re going to tell me everything that happened between you two. Every. Single. Detail. Or else, consider your job gone. Do you understand me?" Before I could even respond, Alpha Klaus cut in with a commanding tone, "Let's get this meeting started." A cold shiver ran through me as I stood up, my legs unsteady beneath me. My hands trembled as I grabbed the stack of documents, i took a deep breath trying to compose myself. But as I approached the end of the table, my grip faltered and the papers slipped from my hands, scattering across the floor. "I'm so sorry about that," I said nervously, as I carried the papers clutching them to my breasts before placing them at the end of the table. I glanced at my team leader, whose eyes looked like they could kill. "Ahem!" I cleared my throat as I went through the documents, pulling out the one I needed for the presentation. "To boost sales and drive growth, I propose expanding our SaaS product into European and Southeast Asian markets, where demand for cloud-based project management tools is rapidly increasing. Additionally, by introducing a tailored pricing plan for startups and freelancers, we can capture a broader demographic and increase adoption rates." "What specific strategies and resources do you recommend we allocate to successfully penetrate these new markets and attract the startup demographic? If you were the CEO of the company." Alpha Klaus abruptly asked me, with an arrogant smile. I knew it, this man just wants to mess with me. But, I wasn't going to allow that. I smiled at him back, as I answered his question confidently. "Well, if I was the CEO. I would allocate a team to conduct market research to identify key needs, develop localized marketing campaigns, establish partnerships with local influencers, and create tailored pricing tiers that appeal specifically to startups and freelancers." Some of the board members whispered among themselves, giving me nods of approval. Even the alpha seemed impressed with how I handled the presentation, I took a breather as I walked back to my seat. The meeting concluded after the alpha gave his verdict on my presentation, which was that he would implement my plan at once and I was to spearhead the project. After that, he left the room and the board members followed suit. "What the hell happened to you?" I opened my mouth to reply, but he interrupted me sharply. "You were all over the place, spilling documents like some toddler and replying the CEO like you are the owner of the company. You're just lucky, that he liked your pitch." I apologized to my team leader immediately, to avoided being scolded. "Fine, just tell me what happened to you? you're not like this, do you need some time off?" "No, I don't need it. I'm fine," I didn't want to go back to that depressed place called home, my husband and sister have already contaminated the place. "Well, I strongly insist. So ........" He said while standing up, leaving the room for no argument. It was futile to argue with him, after all. He has always been a hard ass, I packed the documents and walked back to my cubicle to get my things before I go home. My phone suddenly rang, and I answered it immediately. "Anna!!!!!!!!!!" A very recognizable feminine voice screamed my name as I placed it next to my ear, "it's been so long, I was trying to reach you these past few days. How are you doing?" "I'm.....okay, Jasmine." I replied her, I felt bad lying to my best friend from college. "Okay, remember that guy I was telling you about that my father hooked me up with, well You wouldn't believe this, but he is like super mega rich and I think he wants to propose to me." Jasmine said with an excited squeal. "That's great, jasmine. I said, forcing the enthusiasm. At least someone’s life seemed to be falling into place. “Yeah, but I need your help with something,” she said, her voice lowering softly. “With what?” “Well... he’s not exactly sold on the whole marriage idea yet. So, I was thinking we could go on a double date—you, me, Marco, and him. You and Marco can talk about your marriage, you know, to... encourage him.” No way! No fu*king way. A double date with Marco? My husband, the man who was entangled in an affair with my own sister? How could I go on a date and pretend that everything was perfect? How could I sell a lie when my own marriage was already crumbling? But Jasmine had no idea, and I couldn’t refuse her. I forced a smile through the phone. “Sure... just let me know when.” "How about today? 7pm, At Thai inter restaurant." "......Sounds good." "Great, thanks a million babe." I ended the call with a sigh, slamming the phone onto the desk. My eyes narrowed as they fell on the glass figurine Marco had gifted me after our wedding. Fury surged through me as i snatched it up and hurled it into the waste bin, after this, I was done. I couldn’t endure that useless man any longer. I grabbed my bag and left the office, heading for the elevator. I got in and as soon as the elevator doors were about closing, someone stopped it. The Alpha stepped into the elevator with me, I was shocked to see his face again. I lowered my head and cursed my luck to be in the same elevator with him, alone. The elevator doors closed, as it traveled downward. I backed myself into a corner, trying to stand far from him. The silence was uncomfortable, but I had no intention of breaking it. But the Alpha next words choked me. "Early this morning, you left. Why?" He asked. We're still on that? I had no idea what to tell him, that it was a mistake, that if I had a chance to take it back that I would, that my whole life was a fu*king mess right now. "Um......... Please forgive me, but I don't recall what you are talking about." My only option was to faint ignorance, maybe he will leave it alone then. "Oh really," he muttered, I felt my heartbeat rapidly increasing. "We spent a long night in that hotel together, it's a shame. you don't remember any of it, perhaps I will make it memorable next time." My cheeks blushed with embarrassment, what the hell happened between me and him last night? "We will soon part ways now, so call me." Alpha Klaus said pulling out his card from within his suit as the elevator doors opened, I took from him and he smiled before exiting the elevator. I couldn't continue this type of relationship, especially in my workplace. I considered throwing it anyway or crumbling it, but that would be too disrespectful to him. He was an Alpha and my CEO again. I put the card quickly into my bag, before I could even think about my next move. A call came in, my blood boiled seeing the caller ID, I terminated the line. I had no intention of answering my mother call. I made my way back home, I knew that Marco and Charlotte would be upstairs doing god knows what again. But, nonetheless I had to talk to him about Jasmine's double date. As I walked upstairs, I could hear them giggling which made me almost puke. I did my best to calm down before opening the door. Inside the room, I saw Marco snuggling Charlotte before they stopped to look at me. I was tempted to unleashed my anger on them but I swallowed it. "Marco, we need to be at the Thai inter restaurant before 7pm, jasmine invited us." I closed the door after saying that, I hoped that he would reject the offer. So, I could tell jasmine about the disappointment. I began walking away before the door opened, revealing Marco. "yeah, I will. I have someone to meet there anyway, let's leave now." Did jasmine explain it to him? "I need to change." I told him, before going to my room. Within minutes, I changed into a nice dinner dress with some fancy jewelry and stylist high heels. Marco kissed Charlotte goodbye before we left the house, we got to the restaurant by 6:55pm before I could get out of the car. Marco spoke out. "The next time you take my car without asking, I’ll make sure you regret it," he said, his hand gripping the steering wheel tightly. "Okay." I answered him, getting out of the car. After this, I was done with the marriage. Inside the restaurant, jasmine was waiting at the reserved table. She stood up to hug and I introduced her to Marco, who greeted her with a kiss on her hand before we settled down on our table. "So, where is the lucky rich man?" I asked with a giggle. "He will soon be her......... nevermind he's here." She said after, she caught sight of someone behind my back. "I hope, I'm not late dear." The man sat beside her, smiling. As soon as my eyes locked, fear gripped my soul. Oh goddess, this man is everywhere, isn't he?
