I stayed in the balcony of the room I’m currently staying. I smelled the fresh air. This is a very nice place. These show how rich Monteverde really is.
I’m currently staying in one of Monteverde’s rest house in Batangas along the beach. The weather is warm yet the ocean breeze gives you a chillin’ vibes. Jonas wanted to stay but they didn’t allow him since he has work to attend. Even they owned the company, they don’t let him to just take some absence in work.
They left me here and went back in Manila. Here, where nobody knew me and will know me. I don’t care, I like it here more but the surrounding made me sad. Being left alone, even my Uncle’s house is not as big as this but still I can call it home. I miss them already. I miss everything is our province.
Tsk Apple. Don’t cry, ok? You just arrive, you already felt homesick.
But the feeling is the same years ago, when my parents left me and Uncle took me. I feel lost.
I decided to go out of the room I’m staying to stop rotting myself in sadness. The house is really huge even it just two-storey and old-styled but the materials and furniture around looks expensive and durable. The rooms are big, even the room I’m staying is huge. It’s even bigger than Uncle’s house.
“You’re already awake, dear.” I bumped into Nanay Lydia when I went down. She’s the caretaker of this rest house of Monteverde. I’m staying with her, she a little bit old but still lively.
I smiled and nodded. “Good morning po.” She smiled back at me. She’s nice ever since I arrived and I noticed how close she is with the family especially to Jonas. She always assures that I eat and she always prepared my needs, that’s why I’m a little bit embarrass. I should be helping her and not acting like a brat princess here.
“Let’s go to the dining and eat some breakfast.” I once asked her if she’s from here but she’s not. People who grew up here in Batangas has this kind of tone that Nanay Lydia don’t have but she said, when she’s talking with people around here she tried imitating their tone since she has been living here more than 5 years already.
“I will eat later, Nanay. I will just walk along the seashore.” I wanted to walk along the seashore every morning and feel the fresh ocean breeze. It really feels so good.
“Okay oh, sir will be here today.” I just nodded and walked my way out of the house. I forgot to ask who will arrive today, Sir Carlito or Jonas? Jonas told me I should stop calling him ‘sir’. He felt awkward with it. It’s up to him. I’m also not used calling him like that.
I started to roam around the beach. The view is really fascinating especially during sunrise and sunset. The water is clear and the waves were like calling you to have a swim. I looked at the visible end of the sea and I imagined two person in my mind.
My Mama and Papa. I miss you so much.
I miss them so much. I’m used to be a Princess in my parent’s heart. No scratch that. I’m still their Princess and will always be. They just left me so soon.
I felt tears on my cheeks. I really miss them. I miss them every day. We may not be rich back them but they always work hard yet they never let me feel alone or feel neglected by them. Even they are always exhausted from work they always make sure they have time for me.
I remembered the first day they left me, I can’t eat and sleep. I don’t know what will happen on me. Who will take care of me? My father doesn’t have siblings and that’s when Uncle Albert arrived from the province. They really not in good terms with Mama they often see each other, they just meet and greet each other if there’s a chance but when he find out what happened to my mother he headed to Manila.
They may have misunderstanding before but he knew they love each other. He was arrogant back then and has a lot of dreams yet he still failed. That’s why when he took me, he promised to take care of me.
Ma. Pa. Is my decision is right?
But this is for Maya.
Maya is really important for me. I know Uncle Albert take care of me even Aunt Matet who always mad at me I know somehow he cared for me. I felt the love of family again because of Maya. I don’t know have siblings and Maya is not just my cousin but also a sister to me. When I saw Maya smiled, I’m happy. It lighten my feelings. That’s why I will do everything for her.
Ma. Pa. Please guide me on this. I love you so much.
My tears continuously shedding on my cheeks.
“Who are you?” I almost jumped in surprised when someone spoke from my back. He has this baritone voice that sends shiver down to my spine. I faced him and he’s standing near the Monteverde’s rest house.
He comes up to me. He’s as tall as Jonas, wearing a navy blue long sleeves and a black coat is in his arms I guess. I looked at his eyes, it’s very dark and yet so deep and very mysterious . I creased my forehead. He may looked neutral yet his eyes telling the otherwise, he seems sad. I sight travelled down to his nose. It’s sharp and pointed then his lips were red. His lips pucker.
“Again, who are you?” I quickly looked away from the man in front of me. That’s embarrassing. He caught me staring and checking on his face. What would he be thinking?
“A-ah… I’m currently living in that house.” I pointed that Monteverde’s rest house. I bowed down, I can’t even looked at him. It’s embarrassing. Really embarrassing.
“Oh... are you a new maid? Are you Nanny Lydia’s niece?” his voice is softer now compared to his tone a while ago. I slowly looked at him. New maid? Nanny Lydia?
I almost replied, ‘No. I’m the new babymaker.’ Tss.
“H-ha?” Stupid me.
He smiled. Oh s**t! He’s actually handsome. He may look so manly like a Greek God but he looked so charming when he smiled. It may sound cliché but that’s how I can describe him because of his built and his deep and mysterious aura. But he’s definitely handsome, really handsome and I don’t know if he’s actually true or just my imagination.
“Let’s go inside. I’m Renz Monteverde, by the way.” He offered for a shake hand.
Renz? Renz Monteverde. It sounds familiar.
It’s rings a bell!
He is Renz Freaking Monteverde!
“You’re the son of Mr. Carlito?” I asked in surprised to Jonas, who just entered the room.
Jonas forehead creased and looked at the elder inside the room. His face, his eyes are questioning them.
“No dear. He’s not my son.” Mr. Carlito answered. Now I can calm myself. Jonas is a friend. F-R-I-E-N-D But why he is here anyway?
“But he’s also my grandson but I’m talking about my other grandson, Renz Monteverde.” Madam Celia explained and I was surprised that he is a Monteverde.
I can’t ever react on that revelation in my life. My friend who always brings an old ragged car is a freaking rich. That jerk!
“Granny, what is this all about?” His eyes were wondering and travelled to look at us all.
“You know we are looking for a –“ Madam Celia stopped when Jonas spoke.
“Granny!”
They started arguing with that, Jonas and the elder yet he loses against them. Against me also, because I’m determined with my decision even he’s telling me to back out.
I wanted to help Maya and that’s my main goal.
I’m just staring at him. He’s a Monteverde no doubt on that. He looked exactly like Mr. Carlito even his eyes came from her Mom. Monteverde’s genes were perfect. Even Jonas is really handsome, but I will never admit that on him. He’s a jerk and arrogant.
“Miss?” he called. I blinked my eyes, not once but twice. Geez.
“A-ah… S-sorry.” This is getting more embarrassing, I’ve been staring at him the whole time.
He smiled again. Geez! Please, don’t smile at me.
“It’s fine—“ he didn’t have a chance to finish his words because a familiar voice called him.
“Hey Renz, you forgot your---“ he stopped speaking also when I faced him. “Mansanas.” I frowned at him. He still insisting calling me Mansanas and he looked surprised to see me. He knew I’m staying here.
“I don’t have apples, Jo.” The other guy answered. Eh?
He laughed a bit. “I’m not talking about you, man.” He walked near us and threw something to the other guy. It’s a key if I saw it right. He putted his arm around my shoulder. “How are you here?” he asked me.
Is he trying to be nice again? Lately, he’s always grumpy on me because he said, I never listened to him.
“I’m fine. Nanay Lydia is nice.” I answered but I remembered that other guy in front of us. He’s looking to the both of us like there’s a big question mark in his mind.
“You know each other?” he curiously asked.
I looked at Jonas. He smirked. “You will know here, definitely.”
