Confessions
On a warm Saturday in October, Simmy sat on the porch examining the miniatures she kept in the shoe box on the table. As she turned the little plastic cake decorations in her hand, she attached a memory to each to hold onto forever.
Although their lives had been completely altered since Spratt disappeared more than two months earlier, they had experienced moments of happiness in spite of the sorrow. Lefty and Linny had just welcomed another girl (neither child was named Ralph). Simmy was delighted to know they had named their second daughter Charlotte after Charlie Spratt. They planned to call her “Charly.”
