Mate. what was she?..

1753 Words
Lyon "What do you mean by you're not doing again? Is our relationship an activity to you that you can choose to do when you feel like and otherwise when you don't feel like anymore?" Mia asked in an annoyed tone. Mia has been Lyon's girlfriend for four years now and they've been happy together. They were so good together that everyone in the pack which included they themselves thought they'd turn out to be mates but fate had a cruel twist. When they merged with their wolves at 17, they both realized they weren't for each other. But they loved each other so much that they promised to always choose each other even when they find their mates. So Mia had been assured, she'd always have Lyon. But He telling her something else that didn't correlate with he still being in love with her made her heart twinge in pain because she still loved him. She loved him so much. They've been with each other since they were kids and they've been happy together and even now, they were still happy together. At least mia was happy and she thought Lyon was too but then he started avoiding her calls, started avoiding her that she had to confront him and this was what he had to say to her. "Mia, I'm sorry but I'm sure I've said this before and I'll say it again... We cannot do this anymore. Let's break up" he insisted. "You've said it and it's definitely a mistake. Lyon what are you talking about, why will you just say we should break up. I know that you're still grieving your Parents and you probably feel like you should be alone but this is the time I should be with you. And I want to be with you Lyon" Mia said Lyon was pissed. He loved mia, he really does but at this point, he didn't know what he should do and what he shouldn't. They were not each other's mates, what would happen when she finds her mate? She'd leave him without batting an eye. That's how strong the mating bond is, he's seen it and he knows the end. And he didn't want to tell her why he had to do this... Watching her near tears was hard enough for him and that's why he's been avoiding her. But she just wanted to make it hard for him. Mia was the only woman Lyon has ever wanted despite the number of women who threw himself at him and he's remained loyal to her cause he meant his promises to her. But he knew he wouldn't be able to keep the promises so he had to let her go. No matter how much that hurt him, he had to let her go to give her the chance of pursuing happiness with another man. "Mia, I know what I'm doing and I don't want to be with you. I'm sorry" he said and he left the room. She had broken down in tears and it broke a piece of Him. He hated that he had to do this. He had been totally convinced these past years that whenever his mate show up, he'll reject her immediately because Mia was it for him. But then his parents sat him down just before they went to war and they explained to him; 'He was not an ordinary Alpha, he was the chosen protector for the chosen Luna. The Luna had been hidden due to how great her powers are and when she comes of age, she'll come to where she belonged. Both of them together will be the strongest union the world would ever see' His destiny had been written in stone the moment he was born. He didn't have a choice. "Lyon!" She called out but he left for his room. A tear escaped his eyelids. He really loved Mia but he didn't know how long that will last for since he couldn't reject his mate. He and Mia couldn't be together; His emotions were all together. Two nights ago, his parents were together smiling and dining with the pack as they prepared for the war. His Father had assured him that he'll come back and his mother had promised him that they'll be safe. And Lyon didn't doubt them. At least the Blue Moon pack wasn't the strongest pack by mistake, they worked for it's title and reputation. So it came as a complete shock to Lyon when he saw his parents dead bodies. He couldn't believe his eyes. He couldn't believe his mind. He couldn't believe his reality, it all seemed like a dream. But unfortunately it wasn't. As as if it wasn't enough that he had to bury his parents yesterday, he had to be installed as the new Alpha today. Lyon didn't know what to do. Smile... Laugh... Or cry. A knock came on the door which jolted Lyon back to reality. "It's Damian" he said and Lyon already smelt him so he knew who it was. "Come in" Lyon urged and his best friend and new beta came in. He looked at him with sympathy and pity. Lyon couldn't be annoyed... He had seen those eyes all day for the past two days... He didn't even know how to summon courage at this point. How do you get a man down, up? "Where is the list of the people who will be in attendance?" Lyon asked and Damian walked up to him with a tablet in hand. "Every pack within the country will be represented by at least three but some nearby packs will be more as they didn't get the time to come for your parents burial procession so they will be here. Some people are around already, I've prepared a place for all the visitors coming from afar at the pack guesthouse," Damian explained and Lyon could only listen, he couldn't hear. Damian's hand found Lyon's shoulder; "I Know this all probably feels surreal and I don't know what to say because the truth is I can't understand you but as your friend I can promise you I'll do all I can to help. What you've started no matter how hard it seems now, the hard part is yet to come so I'll take care of everything, you just need to show up at the event this evening. Go out and breathe in some air" Damian said and Lyon wondered if that was what he needed. He knew Damian would always have his back, he had always had his back ever since they were born in fact. His fate had been sealed since birth as the first son so they both knew the responsibilities they'd bear whenever the time came but none of them ever imagined it'd happen this way. They knew there was war but their parents had always gone, even this time around, a musical band was prepared against their arrival to celebrate their victory as they had always done. But this time around, everything was different. They'd usually hear the howl of Lyon's Father whenever they were near but no one heard anything. It never even crossed anyone's mind that the alpha could be dead, but in that moment when Damian's Father walked into the pack, his clothes were bloody and torn, he fell to his face when he got within reach and the band which had started playing music stopped immediately. Lyon thought his parents were behind him but they weren't because they never showed despite how long Lyon waited. His parents was gone. Both of them. If they had been injured, Lyon would have thanked the moon goddess. But he never got to witness his parents last moment. Lyon and Damian had always assumed the Alpha and Beta would retire whenever they got tired and they'll then be installed to take up the roles... They never thought they'd be installed inorder to fill the vacant seat in an emergency. Lyon wondered if what he needed was what Damian was suggesting, A moment to just forget all that has happened. "Take it, you deserve it" Damian urged. He knew Lyon needed that push. He's always been responsible because he knew the pack was priority; but which pack will need an Alpha who wasn't in his right mind. That's why Damian was there for him, to remind him when he should make himself the priority. "Thanks buddy" Lyon said and he took off his shirt and released his wolf, Liam. He felt a sense of freedom and ease he hadn't felt in a while. It suddenly felt like he could breathe again. Liam was sad. He was hurt, he also knew the pain and hurt Lyon was going through. The loss of his heroes wasn't something easy. He jumped into the wild, his thoughts and worries felt fleeting when he was jumping and running. As if when he settles, everything will become fine. Liam suddenly started feeling happy. As if something or someone was near. Liam was feeling excited, this reminded Lyon of how he felt whenever he was around Mia. It was strange. He had never felt like this before. Liam had never liked Mia. He wanted the one made for him by the moon goddess, he didn't want a fake. But Lyon loved Mia and there was nothing Liam could do. A strong scent filled his nostrils and Liam had never felt so intoxicated. It was so much, Lyon could no longer control himself... He had to find this scent. He lost control of his movement and became a slave to the scent. He ran as fast as he could because at that moment it truly felt like if he missed that scent, he'd regret it forever. He jumped and he heard a squeal. It was a young girl, his protective instinct kicked in as fast as it had ever been and he immediately changed mid-air back to human as he landed on the girl in nothing but his natural glory. His eyes found the green staring back at him in shock and fright. "Mate" he said and his canine prolonged. Her scent was making him mad. He wanted to claim her immediately. But she smelled different. And the fear... Was she not a werewolf too? Lyon was confused. Liam wouldn't stop screaming in his head and he felt a connection with her immediately. 'Change!' Liam commanded and her eyes turned Blue... Full blue ... What was she?
