Are you Jealous

Lira POV My voice came out hoarse after singing for all two hundred and forty inmates. And the exhaustion weighed on every part of me. All I wanted was a little rest. These inmates are much easier to take care of. Unfortunately, now they considered me their mother. Yes, you heard me right. “It looks like our mom needs some rest,” one of them said softly. The others rushed to help, offering scraps of cloth, tattered cushions, whatever they could find to make me comfortable. But the fabric smelled of mildew and sweat so thick it made my stomach twist. “I’m sorry,” I said carefully, trying not to hurt their feelings, “but I’d rather just sleep on the floor.” Their eyes looked up at me. “You’re not angry with us, are you, Mom?” one asked. Why should I be angry with them? Obviously I am lucky to have their affection. I gave a faint smile. “I’m used to sleeping on the floor,” I reassured. Perhaps they didn't want me to be alone. "Oh, my dear... Mommy love you all," I said moved. They must not have wanted me to feel alone. For a moment, I almost forgot that we were locked inside the cold iron bars. "I love you to Mom..." they said one by one But I was too tired to speak any further. and I drifted off into sleep. Night had fallen. And i felt the one of the easiest nights of my life. But then, I felt a hand slipping through the iron bars, fingers gently finding mine. “Is this okay?” a voice asked. I opened my eyes and saw him—Diego. His grip was warm, and I smiled back. Alpha Kael POV The stench of the prison hit me the second when I stepped inside. This place was darker than any battlefield I’d ever stood on. The warden hurried toward me, “Respectful greetings to you, Alpha!” I gave him a brief nod. Talking here felt like swallowing poison. So, I covered my mouth with a handkerchief and spoke to him. “How do you even survive in this place?” “Report, Alpha!” he barked. “The prison has always been like this.” Of course, I knew that. But how could Ashera and her friend endure such misery? The warden’s voice dropped to excuse himself. “I’m sorry, Alpha, but do you want any changes to this prison? It seems unreasonable to make it a comfortable place for criminals.” His logic was sound. Maybe I couldn’t change this entire cesspool, but at the very least, I could pull her out of it. “I want to see the new prisoner who was locked in today,” I ordered. “Yes, Alpha. This way.” This wasn't my first time inside the prison halls. Every step echoing off stone walls as we passed rows of iron cells. Some of them stared at me with a heavy, vicious gaze. It's a murderers, thieves, men whose crimes stained their very eyes. But now, I see something was strange. Many of them... “They’re sleeping?” I asked. The warden scratched his head nervously. “Tonight, the prison is unusually peaceful, Alpha.” “What do you mean?” “I’ve been guarding this place for twelve years. Never once have I seen it this calm. Every single prisoner has bowed down… to a single girl.” I frowned. It had to be her, Ashera. She always had her little tricks, her strange way of bending people. But these men weren’t ordinary, they were monsters in chains. Could she really tame them? “Who is the girl?” I demanded. The warden pointed toward the far end, Cell 123. Of course. Just as I suspected. My steps quickened, the clink of my boots echoing louder. But then my jaw clenched; because what I saw set my blood on fire. Through the bars, she was holding another man’s hand. Heat surged in me. My fist slammed against the iron bars. “Ashera! What do you think you’re doing?!” The entire cell block jolted awake. Chains rattled. Eyes turned. The silence cracked under my voice. Lira POV I woke up to the sound of someone screaming. "Hey! Shut up!" I replied with a furrowed brow. For a second I wondered. Was Diego yelling at me again? No… that couldn’t be. I hadn’t even told my name. It had to be someone else. Then I saw him. the powerful Alpha I had teased earlier. He was standing there, His eyes burned with emotions he didn’t bother to hide. “Did you just remember me?” I asked boldly. Of course, he must have found another excuse to torment me. “I didn’t expect you to be this sly, Ashera!” he snapped. Sly? Why would he call me that? My confusion was answered when I realized his eyes were fixed on my hand. I'm still holding Diego’s. He hadn’t woken up yet. The mad Alpha’s lips twisted into a smirk at the moment I let go of his hand. Diego jolted awake with a cry that shook the stone walls. “Argh!” It was the loudest voice I'd ever heard. No wonder the entire prison immediately bowed to me when I managed to calm him down. I clutched Diego’s hand again, and just like that, his eyes drifting back into sleep. To my suprise He didn’t care about the chaos around him. “I never thought you’d betray me,” the Alpha accused. Damn it. What kind of accusation is this? “Who’s betraying who here?” I shot back. “You’re always like this! Clinging to every man you meet!” he barked. I tilted my head and narrowed my eyes. “You’re jealous, aren’t you?” I asked almost teasing Him. My glare daring to him for admit it. Alpha Kael POV Damn it. I didn’t even know what came over me. Why did those words slip out? Jealous? Was that really what this was? No... impossible. I can't, I shouldn't have fall for her. “Stop talking,” I snapped. “Let go of him and get out!” I command. “And what if I don’t?” she countered, her eyes filled to me. Somehow her gaze both infuriated and… unsettled me. I grabbed her hand, yanking her closer. And her scent hit me, and it was maddening. “I don’t have time for your little tricks,” I whispered near her ear. Turning away from her, I barked at the prison guard. “Where’s the key? I’ll punish this girl myself.” The guard stammered, clearly terrified. “But… Lady Seraphine—” I almost forgotten about my mom. But, “Who leads here?” I asked sharply. "You... Alpha," the warden replied shakily. “Then give me the key.” My command left no room for hesitation. He threw the key my way, and I caught it with ease, unlocking the cell. Now, I was the one who would decide her fate, not anyone else. Lira POV I swallowed hard. The rage radiating from Alpha Kael was pressing down on me like a blade against my neck. Still, I forced myself to stand tall. All I had left was my courage and the mask of stubbornness I wore like armor. But facing him felt like standing at the edge of a cliff. His strong hand wrapped around my arm and pulled me forward. Everyone in the prison turned to watch, their eyes filled hatred directed at him. The moment I lost my grip on Diego, he woke again and screaming. My poor boy... he cray. “Mama!” It's makes my heart twist. He didn’t want me to leave. But I had no choice. My mission had already begun. Yes… making alpha Kael angry was part of my plan. Again. I turned back, but I was already too far away from him. My tears eyes as I shouted, “I’m sorry, Diego! Forgive me! All of you in here, live better; lives for me. Don’t let yourselves fall into darkness again!” The prisoners reached out through the bars as I passed, their hands stretching toward me. I lifted my hand, forcing a smile through my tears. “I’ll be fine, my children,” my voice trembling. “We won’t be able to see you again, Mommy,” one of them whispered,. Their worry was a blessing I didn’t deserve. “I’ll come visit you,” I promised softly. “I’ll come back, I swear it.” We're the prisioners, that the world would never remember. But I would return. I’d tear down this cruel system that held us captive. But Alpha Kael stopped. He turned sharply into mine. “Why do they call you ‘Mommy’?” he demanded.
