Chapter 8 - Everyone Sins

I was not expecting for the result of my joke. Sean's relatives were all in the hospital that afternoon. There had a commotion in the company when he was taken to the ambulance through stretcher. The reaction of people to what happened was degrading. I felt so guilty that I could not stop from crying while he was being treated in the emergency room.

Gladly, he survived. I immediately called Uncle Paul and mom when Sean was transferred to the private room. He's still unconscious, but at least he's breathing. Red rashes on his neck and arms are visible.

"What exactly happened, hija?" The old man asked me. I was shaking in the corner while watching all of them discuss the advice of doctor to allow Sean to rest.

"H-he ate salmon that I b-brought for him." And I have no excuse. I was wrong in that part. I almost killed him!

"My goodness, hija! It has only been week since you became part of Montenegro, but you're causing so much trouble for our family! Why are you even in the mansion when you have your own castle?" One of the terrifying old ladies said. I took all their blame.

"I-i'm sorry for what happened. This won't happen again." I can't even say it was unintentional because I planned to give him a really hard time. It's the only heir of Golden Mont Hotel we are talking about. I went overboard for what I did.

"Of course! If this happens again, we will make sure to put you in jail. This can be considered attempted murder!" I gave a sharp look to the young woman who sarcastically said it.

"That will never happen, Erish. What happened was purely my fault. I asked her to bring me lunch, and she has no idea that I have allergy." Our eyes all went to Sean who's displaying a wide smile while his eyes were close. His voice was so weak and pain is evident in the way he speaks. Despite that, he's smiling! I want to cry again when he tried to sit in bed.

His uncles helped him, but he assured that he can do it alone.

"Let's not make a big deal of what happened. It was unavoidable accident which is rooted by my negligence. I will ask to be discharged in the evening, so make sure to tell dad I was alright. This should not interrupt their honeymoon. That's my request." He scanned his arms.

I looked down when our eyes met.

"Kick her out of the mansion."

"That's not possible, auntie. Dad asked a favor to take care of her at all cost. Thank you for taking time in visiting me. I'm alright, so there's nothing to worry about." He is treated like a real king in that family.

Two of Sean's secretaries were waiting outside of the room. When his relatives vacated the room, I remained sitting in one corner scrutinizing him. The way he stared gave me goosebumps, but I cannot withdraw my eyes from him.

"I-i'm sorry." I whispered.

"What are you murmuring?" He acted like he's cleaning his right ear.

"Why did you eat that when you know you're allergic? I only wanted to annoy you, but you're so dumb!"

"Stop crying. I'm alright. Were you afraid?" I wiped the tears in my face. He got up from bed and removed the wire connected to the heart monitor from his chest so he can walk close to me.

"Stay there." I warned. I got up from my seat when he's 3 steps away from me.

"All special women in my life tend to kill me. Why are you crying now?" I pushed him away.

"You almost died! You have no idea how guilty I was when I checked you up and you're breathless! Dumb! So dumb! You don't deserve to be the CEO of your company! How could you eat that..." He gripped both my arms and pulled me close to him. My whining stopped when his dark eyes scanned my face.

I totally lost it when his right hand gently wiped the tears from my eyes. My knees were already weak and my hands felt cold when he spoke again.

"How could I not eat something from you? You graced my lifeless office while wearing that dangerous smile. I knew you're up to some games, but... I want you to know that I will fall into your tricks all the time. Regardless of how dumb that makes me hoping that you won't stop yourself too in coming to me." I tilted my head to the left when he attempted to kiss me lips. I still can't.

I miss Warren a lot, but I can't tolerate cheating just to get the attention I used to get from my fiance.

"You know this is wrong," I whispered. He touched my chin and gently tilted my face so our eyes would meet again.

"Everyone sins, Chunsa. No one has to know what you and I are having. We can keep it to ourselves forever." When his hot lips touched mine, my arms automatically cling to his neck.

When I saw him for the first time in that wedding, I knew there's something in him that is different. The way he looks made me feel hot all over. His lips are brushing against mine. Slowly, his arms wrapped around my waist pulling me closer to him. Tears ran down my face not for what happened to him, but for what I will do next. I might not be able to stop myself from sinning with him.

He bite my lower lip which made me gasp, and I felt that naughty smile forming in his lips again. His lips are smeared with my lipstick.

"You have so many women in your life, Sean. I don't want to be one of them. Even I am single right now, I will not dare to keep you. Let's forget what we just did. I love Warren so much.. very much." I took a deep sigh before pushing him lightly. He's blocking my way that's why I can't walk out.

"What's done is done, Chunsa. I'll stop playing around because I have you now. Forget about Warren. He's not the man who can take care of you now and in the future. And the love for him that you're claiming... it's all infatuation. You met him when you know nothing about love, and you're staying because you got so used to the feeling of being with him. I can give you more. I can stay with you. I will choose you over any amount of money." The sincerity in his voice melted my heart.

It's impossible to be sane while looking directly in his eyes. More than anything, I am afraid to feel something more than a stepbrother to him. Crossing the line will break many people's hearts and trust. Just imagining how this will break Warren scared me.

"I'm really sorry for what happened, Sean. I will try to keep my distance from now on. The investigation will be over soon, so I can leave pretty..."

"Go ahead. Do what you have to do, Chunsa, and I will also do what I want. If you can pretend to feel nothing after that kiss then please do so. I have no plans of stopping just after a kiss." His jaw moved before he turned around to go out of the room.

He called his secretaries while I'm watching his every move.

"Bring all the papers that are scheduled to be signed this afternoon to my house. Don't cancel any of my meetings tomorrow." He instructed to his male secretary.

"I need to talk to Doc Erwin first because it's past the time when they allow patients to be discharged. I'll be in his office in one hour. Where are my clothes?"

Before I feel more for him, I started arranging my things. He can do well alone. He's been doing well alone since he lost that woman who shot him twice on the chest. Obviously, he hasn't moved on.

"I'll go home first. Take care on your way." I have decided to act like a real stepsister to him. Let's not be a fool and surrender everything for him.

"Just like that?" He emphasized every word in that question.

"You have your secretaries, butler and driver to assist you home. Your relatives think I'm after your money, so it's best to really keep my distance."

"Let's go home together. Wait until I get discharged. Do you want anything to eat?" He didn't wait for me to answer. He faced his female secretary and instructed her to bring bottled waters and snacks.

"I don't want anything from you!" I shouted, but he did not listen.

"Damn it, Sean! Stop acting like you're so concerned about me! I will not fall for that! I'm leaving!" Even his secretaries were shocked with my reaction.

"Stay if you don't want Warren to know what just happened between us." He said it under his breath . It made me speechless. Am I being blackmailed right now?

"You think you can hold me in the neck just because of.."

"Don't even dare me. You may not know it yet, but I do whatever pleases me. If I tell it to your fiance now, I'll earn my spot right away because he's going to loathe you. Is that what you want?"

"No. Y-you're trying... to control me now!"

"That's why you should be a good stepsister to me from now on."

It's the first time I met someone as annoying as him. His words are rules. For another hour, he rested comfortably in the bed knowing that I'm looking at him angrily. I can't stop from hissing whenever I think that he's keeping me in this room just because of what happened. Why did I even kiss him back?

I didn't wait for the driver to open the door for me. I walked so fast, so I can go to my room. Sean was murmuring something when he entered in the mansion, but I did not hear that. I felt safe when I entered in my room and locked it. It was a long day for me.

It's unclear to me which makes my heart feel heavy. I am sure that I love Warren. He respects me a lot, and I am happy to return the favor. I see myself supporting him in every way. He may not be the best in his career, but he will always be the most successful man in my eyes.

I took a quick shower before going to bed. I was holding my phone, waiting for Warren's call before I fell asleep.
