Talk With Elder Monsters

1508 Words
The air was thick with rainwater and the smell of kicked up dirt. I knew the smell. It haunted me for life. I wandered through the wet forest and damp underbrush to a secluded area where I would meet with several elders to discuss plans moving forward. I waited by an old ruined tower that still had a basement to it. As I waited my sharp ears had heard them. The crunching of fallen leaves and the sound of pounding feet. I looked up and saw them. They weren't from my region. They were the elders of the upper parts. I saw their eyes dead on me. It was a stand off like no other before one male spoke up in his old weary clothes. “We did not waste much time getting here. Therefore we'd like to get this discussion over with to make it less obvious.” He spoke to me with such disdain that I could easily pick it up due to my training and teachings from my mother as a child. I remained neutral with my gaze. My deep sapphire blue eyes never left his dusty gray ones. I straightened myself and kept my head lifted up to show my proud blood and rank amongst them. “I'm afraid you have me confused for someone way different, for you see I didn't summon you all just for mindless chatter but for a proposal.” My words were calculated perfectly, there was no room for argument with how I placed my cards down. This wasn't a normal gamble I was doing. It was a gamble of life. Many of these two faced elders knew I was killing blood. I was the last of my female kind. That is until I have a daughter which I wish and pray never happens. “Angel, you know very well that whatever you propose could end very deadly for anyone. So we digress against anything you impose.” I grew bitter and angry inside. They knew how to trump card me but I have several cards up my sleeves way better than theirs. “I disagree, you see we can make anything possible. I know ways to get them free from wars, disputes, as well as cages.” I know laying down my battle card isn't something I'd normally do but what choice do I have honestly. I needed to set my example. Monsters don't know how lucky they really are to be in a pretty stable environment. I am a retired war tactician. “Angel we are aware of your proposals however we don't agree with you at all. This is something we'd not want to put ourselves through.” I bite my tongue to keep from asserting my dominance. I was labeled an alpha female at the age of three due to my powerful aura and powers. I'm among the S-Ranked monsters which are very rare. How dare they offend me! The future queen of them! It made me angry to the core. I hated them so much! My eyes were shifting from sapphire blue to red but I controlled it. I watched them leave and my rage increased. My soul felt pain as they left. I knew that the elders wouldn't listen but they would when they feel sheer pain when the others of their villages die. I know they will. It was something I knew all too well. Something that caused agony in my very soul. I lost many tribal members before it was enough to kill my own heart. It is hard to imagine but I dealt with it alone. Always alone, especially since my mate Kei died. I fought in wars and knew how to prevent anything terrible from happening. However, now my chances were in vain. I walked the way out of the ruined tower basement softly inhaling and fighting my tears. I knew I'd never cry real tears. I've only cried blood since the day I got my powers for the first time at three. I knew my voice was nothing more than a nightmare for many to hear. What else could I do, none will listen. I make my way back to my tribe and walk amongst the streets in my long kimono only to feel it lift. I shot around and struck the person with a murderous look in my eyes. “Eric you pervert! Men like you should have been strung up by their shirts!” I shouted in pure disgust and rage. As I said his name was Eric but his full name is Eric Swanica, I hated him. He used to be an alpha male until dethroned him at eighteen. Basically how I won the rights to rule the boy squad. I sent the man to the floor with my strike. I watched him struggle to stand by my hit. He was always such a pervert. He'd never change. I storm off to the hill where I stand watching over the others. I couldn't help but feel helpless without the elders' approval. I need new ways to make them obey but for now it is best to not force or push my luck. I was already ruling alone due to my mate's death. I had nothing but his memory. Along with his perfect red feathers I used to make a necklace for him. Without Kei I felt hopeless and worn. Like I wasn't who I was meant to be anymore. He was the real one to me. Though tamed I felt at peace with him. I know it was shameful to be the wife of a pet but I couldn't run away. I walked down the hill as my black long kimono waved behind me, my black long hair whipped and brushed against my neck as I began to run. I raced through the trees to the deeper parts. My eyes never leave the forest in front of me. My heart was pounding so much like horse hooves thundering across the terrain. Once I was in the center of the dark forest of lower Kyushu I gazed at the sky crying out in a loud mournful roar that echoed through the trees. My heart broke as I did. The roar was a sign of my wounded heart as I could no longer see the man who swore his life to me. My love story ended the day he died. I had hoped somewhere in my heart he would have lived and we could have a bigger family. What a selfish wish I had, to want something that was impossible to have. Once my roar had died off amongst the trees I slowly swayed in my kimono. I did stop as I lit up the woods with my graceful moments. Moonlight shown through the trees. My hands moved around me as I spun to the right as my feet straightened on the cool dirt. I spun and spun in place spinning effortlessly. I danced so gracefully almost like a ballet dancer. I lifted my leg towards the sky as I spun faster and faster, not stopping. In turn the kimono fanned out like black flower petals around me. Once I stopped I moved across the ground as my feet tapped and moved, my kimono shifted and grew shorter as I danced and danced under the darkness. I couldn't stop moving as my soul commanded my body to move. I swayed and bent under the forest leaves. I didn't make a sound as I moved across the soft earth. No crunching of leaves echoed, the pounding of feet remained silent as the wind as I moved. I held my chest as I moved backwards as I fell to the ground hitting my hand on the soft terrain. I looked forward as I raced through the trees jumping as I ran across the grass. I landed and jumped on repeat breaking gravity as I soared as I ran. I landed on a cliff edge as I stared over it gazing at the moon gripping my mother's white feathered necklace she had given me before her death. My eyes never left the moon as I reached to the sky leaning my head back. “I shall not fail this chance Lunara, for you I shall serve my purpose,” I spoke softly to the moon as I lowered my hand down with my body as I gazed into the beyond. “I shall not fail my late mother either, for she and I are one. Body, heart, and soul together for eternity. That is how it should be.” I turned and ran back to the woods as I raced through the forest with accuracy that mirrored that of a wild horse running from captors that wish to ensnare such a breed. I ran faster and faster to the point I was panting for breath. I made it to my village and went to my house for another day to plan another strategy to get the elders on my side.
