The constant noise and hum of the Wisps as if they were excited, watching over them. The terrified, ragged panting of Cloud Wolf, urgently looking for safe passage home. Most of all, Angel was aware of the rabid Newblood perched on a tree directly ahead, awaiting them in silence, ready to pounce. The pack had run swiftly, skirting a vast lake that seemed alive with light, running straight into what the Newblood must have believed was a cunning trap
