Ellie practically stumbled into her dorm room, her pulse still racing. She shut the door behind her and leaned against it, her heart hammering so loudly she swore it could be heard down the hall. Her mind was a jumbled mess of scattered memories from last night — his mouth on her neck, his hands gripping her waist, the way his voice broke when he said her name.
Get it together, Ellie!
“Where the hell have you been?”
Ellie’s eyes snapped open, finding Cassie sitting cross-legged on her bed, scrolling through her phone. Her blonde hair was a mess of curls, and she was still in pajamas despite it being nearly noon.
“I—uh,” Ellie stammered, clutching the oversized shirt she still wore — his shirt — around her body. She hadn’t even realized how ridiculous she looked until now.
Cassie’s brow quirked. “Wait a second… oh my god. You didn’t come home last night.”
Ellie froze. “Uh—”
“Holy s**t,” Cassie gasped, tossing her phone aside. “Did you— did you hook up with someone?”
Ellie winced. “Okay, can you not say it like that?”
“Oh my god!” Cassie shrieked, bouncing on the bed. “Was he hot? Wait— where did you even meet him? Please tell me he was hot.”
Ellie groaned, crossing the room and flopping face-down onto her bed. “I am never drinking tequila again.”
“That doesn’t answer my question!” Cassie crawled over, grabbing Ellie’s shoulder and flipping her onto her back. “Spill. Now.”
Ellie groaned louder. “Fine! Yes. I hooked up with someone. I met him at the bar. He was stupidly attractive. We were both drunk. And now I want to crawl into a hole and die.”
Cassie let out an unholy squeal. “Ellie! I knew it. I knew one day you’d finally let loose! Was he like… model hot or CEO hot?”
“Both,” Ellie mumbled into her pillow.
Cassie gasped. “No.”
“Yes.”
“Tell me everything.”
Ellie sighed, rolling onto her back. “There’s not much to tell. I was drunk. He was… there. We started talking. He walked me home — except I never made it to my dorm, and instead, I woke up in his apartment.”
Cassie’s jaw dropped. “And?”
“…And we slept together.”
Another ear-piercing squeal erupted from Cassie. “Ellie! You hoe! I’m so proud of you.”
Ellie groaned, covering her face. “Don’t say that.”
“Are you kidding? This is iconic. You never do this kind of thing. Was he good?”
“Cassie!”
“Oh, come on,” Cassie grinned, nudging her. “Give me something. Was it like, decent or ‘I’m-gonna-think-about-this-for-the-rest-of-my-life’ good?”
Ellie hesitated — and that was her answer.
Cassie’s mouth fell open. “Oh my god. He rocked your world, didn’t he?”
Ellie’s face burned. “I am not talking about this.”
“Oh, you absolutely are,” Cassie smirked. “Did he do the thing?”
“What thing?”
“You know — the grabbing your hips, whispering dirty things in your ear thing.”
“…Yes.”
Cassie screamed.
“Shut up!” Ellie hissed, grabbing a pillow and smacking her with it.
Cassie only cackled harder. “Oh my god, I’m living vicariously through you right now. Was he older?”
Ellie hesitated again.
Cassie’s eyes widened. “He was older?!”
“Like… late twenties, early thirties?” Ellie winced. “I don’t know. I didn’t exactly ask for his birth certificate.”
Cassie clutched her chest dramatically. “You hooked up with a hot older man who rocked your world in one night? Ellie, I’m so proud. Please tell me you got his number.”
“…I didn’t.”
Cassie’s face dropped. “What?”
“I panicked!” Ellie groaned. “I woke up, realized what I did, and I just… left.”
“Oh my god, you i***t. What if he was your soulmate or something?”
“He’s not my soulmate,” Ellie insisted, sitting up. “It was just a one-night stand. End of story.”
Cassie scoffed. “Girl, you don’t just stumble into mind-blowing s*x with a god-tier man and not get his number. That’s illegal.”
“Look, I was drunk. I wasn’t thinking straight,” Ellie muttered. “It’s probably for the best. No strings, no mess.”
Cassie raised an eyebrow. “You say that now, but give it a week and you’ll be spiraling.”
“No, I won’t.”
“You definitely will.”
Ellie groaned, burying her face in her hands. “I just need to forget it ever happened.”
“Good luck with that,” Cassie snorted. “By the way, did you at least get his name?”
“…William.”
Cassie smirked. “Hot.”
“Shut up.”
---
Ellie tried — she really tried — to shake the memory of William from her brain. She spent the rest of the day drowning herself in assignments, ignoring the phantom touch of his hands and the way her body still ached from him.
By evening, she was pacing her dorm like a madwoman, her thoughts still consumed by him. His mouth. His voice. The way he made her feel like the only girl in the world for a few hours.
“Oh my god,” she groaned. “I’m losing it.”
Cassie, now freshly showered and in her pajamas, leaned against the doorway. “So when are you seeing him again?”
Ellie snapped her head toward her. “Never. It was a one-time thing.”
Cassie snorted. “Yeah, keep telling yourself that.”
“I mean it!” Ellie threw her hands up. “I’m just gonna pretend it never happened and move on with my life.”
Cassie hummed skeptically. “Alright. But don’t come crying to me when you randomly bump into him.”
Ellie rolled her eyes. “Yeah, like that’ll happen.”
