Chapter Eight

Cassy The sun gradually dimmed, covered with clouds, and the sky became unclear. That was an indication that it was about to rain. I moved away from the window back to the center of the room. As I walked, I noticed a door in the corner of my room. I made a scrunching face, surprised as I walked closer to the door, wondering where it led. I placed my hands on the doorknob, and just as I was about to open the door, a knock came on the door, and I was jolted back to reality. I walked back to the center of the room before I responded. "Come in!" The door opened immediately, revealing Drake as he stood there with a pale look. I didn't know what he had come for. He walked in slowly and jammed it. "I want to have a word with you." He said, and I raised my eyebrows in surprise. What could it be that he wanted to talk about? I signaled that he sat down, but he shook his head, rejecting the offer. "What is it that you want to talk about?" My voice was barely above a whisper, grunting as I tried to sit down on the edge of the bed. "I will just go straight to the point and be very clear with you." He paused, looking away briefly. I had no idea what he wanted to talk about. Perhaps he had agreed to do it with me. Part of me was excited, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. "As adults that we are, and the fact that we are here on our own. I would like us to be as professional as possible." He paused, and I chuckled. I had an idea of where he was heading. I rolled my eyes away from him as I waited for him to continue what he was saying. "I am your father's employee. I work for your father and my job is to look after you, not to bend you over a table or the edge of the bed and f**k you. That's not the type of relationship that we are supposed to have." I didn't let him finish what he was saying before I interrupted him, forcing him to listen to what I was saying. "I totally understand what you are saying. I guess I was thinking that we could have a different relationship aside from the employer-employee kind of one. But it's fine...." I paused, sliding my hand over my thigh to bring his attention to it in a subtle way before I continued what I was saying. "It's fine if you want to maintain professionalism," I added in a low tone and he nodded his head, walking out of the room. He halted just as he reached the door, and he tilted his head to look at me before he talked. "You still haven't had anything to eat." He said and I smiled softly. "I will eat something later. Thank you." He walked out of the room without a reply. I picked up my phone and immediately dialled my father's number. He picked up the call at the first ring and he didn't waste time. "How was your flight?" He didn't even have time for pleasantries. I nodded my head as if he were here with me. "You know how it can be. You didn't call me." He cleared his throat and I prepared my ears for a lengthy explanation. "I talked with Drake, and he told me that you were fine and resting, that was why I didn't call you." "Okay... I just wanted to let you know..." He didn't let me finish before he interrupted me. "Drake will take good care of you. Stay safe and do as Drake tells you. He is there to protect you...." I ended the call. I was not ready to be lectured on his importance in my life. Suddenly, an idea struck my mind. I wanted to move around the city and perhaps, stop by to get something to eat. I picked up the table phone and pressed the speed dial. He picked up the call immediately. "I need to talk to you." The call ended immediately, and within a minute, the strange door in my room opened, and he walked into my room. I failed to act surprised even though I was. "So that door leads to your room?" I asked and he inhaled deeply before he replied. "Yes, it does. That is why I told you that we were going to be roommates." He said in a low tone and I nodded. I wasn't interested in having that conversation with him. I walked to the wardrobe to select a dress and then his voice started to echo. "Why are you selecting a dress?" He asked in a low tone. "I want to drive around the city." By this time, I had already taken off my top, revealing my bare back to him. I tilted slightly to see the look on his face, to see the expression, but there was nothing there to read. "You can see that it is about to rain right. And besides, haven't we agreed to be professional? Why are you changing in front of me?" He asked and I laughed sarcastically. I completely changed into the new dress and walked to where he was standing. I looked him in the eyes before I gave him a response. "I am being professional except if you have a different motif, changing like that should not be a problem. Also, I am aware that it is about to rain. That would be the fun of it. Driving inside the rain." I smiled, patting him on the shoulder as I walked past him. "One more thing. I don't want you using that door anymore. If you want to come into my room, come through the front door." He was quiet for a while and I assumed that he was trying to gather his thoughts before he talked. "Where exactly do you want to go?"
