Hospital and Transfer

"Mom, what's wrong with you?" Sima Qing cried out in distress. "Cough cough cough... cough cough cough..." Her only response was endless coughing and the continuous spitting out of mouthfuls of blood. "We need to go to the hospital immediately," Sima Chun said, picking up Qing'er's mother and instructing, "Quickly open the door, there's a car outside." Seeing Sima Chun carrying someone out, An Da quickly opened the car door and pressed a button. The back seats automatically formed a large bed. Qing'er's mother lay on it, her face pale, her breathing shallow and rapid. "Mom, you can't have anything happen to you. Mom, what will I do if something happens to you? Mom, wake up," Sima Qing sobbed, shaking her mother's hand. They arrived at the hospital. Doctors and nurses rushed Qing'er's mother into the emergency room. Sima Qing, with both hands on her knees, sat on the floor, sobbing quietly. "Is there a family member here? Please come over," a nurse said. "I am," two voices said at the same time. "This is the payment slip for the hospital stay, please pay the deposit for tonight's stay first." Sima Chun took the payment slip and handed it to An Da, who was standing by his side. An Da nodded and immediately left. "Hey, give me the slip, I'll go pay for it myself," Sima Qing said, wiping her tears. "You should just sit here and wait for news from the emergency room. You don't have to worry about these things from now on," Sima Chun said, handing her a man's handkerchief. "I don't need your kindness. If you hadn't come, my mom wouldn't be like this. It's all your fault!" Sima Qing said, growing more upset. "If anything happens to my mom, I will hate you for the rest of my life. Leave, I get annoyed just seeing you." Sima Chun didn't say anything, he just looked at her intently, watching her cry. He really wanted to pull her into his arms and hold her tightly. "Why aren't you leaving yet? My mom started spitting blood as soon as you arrived. Our family doesn't welcome you. You should go," Sima Qing yelled at Sima Chun. The emergency room door opened, and Sima Chun immediately rushed over to ask, "Doctor, how is the patient?" "The bleeding has stopped, and she's not in immediate danger. I recommend that the patient transfer to a larger hospital in the next day or two for further examination, the sooner the better. I think I mentioned this to a family member about two months ago, it was the young lady over there," the doctor said, pointing to Sima Qing. "Okay, doctor, we'll have the patient transferred to another hospital for treatment tomorrow. Thank you for your guidance." Sima Chun responded to the doctor immediately, before Sima Qing could say anything. "Mom, are you feeling any better? Is there anything you want to eat?" Sima Qing said, showing a big smile. "Qing'er, quickly thank the young master." "Thank him? Why should I? If he hadn't come to our house, you wouldn't be like this. I don't want to thank him," Sima Qing said, pouting. "Auntie, it's good that you're okay, this is the least I could do." "Young master, I'm so sorry, the first time you come you have to go to the hospital. I'm fine now, let's go home," Qing'er's mother said, attempting to sit up. "Auntie, please lie down for now. I'd like to discuss something with you. The doctor has recommended that you transfer to another hospital for further treatment. I'd like to take you to Hong Kong for a comprehensive examination. If there's an illness, we'll treat it right away, and if there's nothing serious, I’ll send you home immediately. Would you agree to that?" Sima Chun said sincerely. “But, young master, I feel like I’m fine. Thank you for your kindness,” Qing'er's mother replied without a second thought. "Mom, we'll go to the big hospital in the provincial capital tomorrow. I'm going to ask for three days off from the supermarket now. And after I finish tutoring the owner's child, I'll come back to the hospital to be with you." After saying this, she didn't even look at Sima Chun before leaving. “Young master, Qing'er is still just a child, please don’t take offense.” She felt that her once-obedient daughter had changed today. She couldn’t explain why. “Auntie, I’ll still go to the provincial capital with you tomorrow. Having another person around will be helpful,” Sima Chun said, still sincere. “Young master, I’m already so touched by your concern. You must be very busy, young master.” Qing'er's mother still didn’t want to trouble him. After all, it had been over ten years since they had last met, and her daughter seemed to dislike him. “I’ll be fine for the next two days…” a gentle knock interrupted Sima Chun. “Young Master, Secretary Lin is asking you to call her back within ten minutes.” An Da whispered into Sima Chun's ear as he walked in. "Auntie, I need to step out for a moment. I'll come back to see you later," Sima Chun said. Inside the car, Sima Chun dialed the number. "Lin, what is it?" “President, the stock prices in China are still plummeting, the two billion dollars is barely a drop in the bucket. Manager Wang is requesting you to depart for China today. If you decide to go, please tell me your specific location, and I will arrange a private jet as soon as possible.” Lin Yue, a person who had seen many things, spoke calmly. "I'll contact Manager Wang,” Sima Chun said before quickly ending the call. "President, I can barely hold on here. I never thought this economic crisis would be so severe. It's all my fault for not being prepared enough. Please, President, come to China to take command personally, or we'll have to file for bankruptcy protection," Manager Wang said, his forehead dripping with sweat. "Manager Wang, I'll give you another 4 billion, it will be transferred tomorrow. You must hold on for me. I can't come for the next two days. Contact Minister Jia in Finance immediately." He felt the real problem now wasn't whether or not the company in China would collapse, but… “Young Master, should I take you to the hotel?” An Da asked, observing Sima Chun, deep in thought. “First, buy some food for the patient and take it up there. Then go wait for someone at the supermarket entrance.” Sima Chun was shocked at himself. When had he ever cared for others? Not even when his own grandparents were hospitalized had he acted like this. Yet, even when he did, no one appreciated it. An Da waited by the supermarket entrance for two full hours before Sima Qing finally emerged, pushing her bicycle. "Miss Sima, please get in the car, I'll take you to see your mother," An Da said, bowing and gesturing for her to get in the car. "Thanks, but no need, I'll just ride my bike," she said, getting on her bike and riding away. An Da shook his head, thinking, What is wrong with the Young Master? He came all this way just to be treated like this? This girl's temper is unusual. Pushing open the door to the hospital room, he saw her mother eating a steaming bowl of porridge, with Sima Chun standing by her side, looking after her. “Mom, the boss gave me the time off. Mom will be alright,” she said, completely ignoring Sima Chun's presence. “Mom is so great, she even finished a big bowl of porridge! Then let's take the early bus to the provincial capital tomorrow.” “Qing'er, the young master is also going to the provincial capital tomorrow. Why don’t we take a ride with him?” Qing'er's mother said, observing her daughter's reaction. “Mom, I think we should handle our own matters ourselves. We’ve already troubled them too much today," Sima Qing replied, still clearly unhappy. Qing'er’s mother didn't know what to do, trapped between the two. Sima Chun stood there, silent, while her daughter buried herself in tidying up the room as if someone had deeply offended her. Thinking back to the past, she realized that they were never supposed to have any interaction. One was in heaven, and the other was on earth. She and Qing’er's father had thought about it carefully before deciding to call off the marriage contract. She never expected the young master would suddenly come looking for them. She didn't yet know the reason he was visiting them. It didn’t feel like a simple social call. They had not been in contact for thirteen years. It wasn't appropriate to ask him if he was married. If he wasn’t married, he probably wouldn’t be interested in Qing’er. Although her daughter was over five feet tall, and had a pretty face, she was just a child in mind and actions, and knew nothing about the matters between a man and a woman. The young master was a distinguished person. The old madam and the madam were both shrewd women. They would never take Qing’er as a wife. Thinking about it, she felt it was right to call off the engagement back then. She couldn’t understand what Sima Chun’s intentions were. He must be thirty this year, perhaps he’s married already? If he’s married, what exactly is his purpose? Thinking and thinking, the matter seemed very complex. Qing'er's father refused the money that the old madam had offered, but the old madam was also quite unreasonable. Ten years ago, when Qing’er’s father was seriously ill, and the family had no money, she had called the old madam to borrow 100,000 yuan. The old madam had refused her on the spot, which still made her feel terrible. “Young master, it’s getting late, you should go rest. We will take the bus by ourselves tomorrow, there's no need to trouble you," Qing'er's mother said, effectively asking him to leave. Back in the car, Sima Chun remained silent, his face dark. Right now, he wanted nothing more than to grab that self-righteous little girl and spank her hard. An Da had never seen the president troubled over a woman. This was a first, and it made him feel like the young master might actually be serious this time. “Mom, you should go to sleep. I'll go home and pack our things. I already found out that the early bus is at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow." "Qing'er, be careful on the road, come back quickly," she said, looking at her strong daughter, hoping she would get better soon. “Young master, look, Miss Sima is coming out, pushing her bike.” "Qing'er, let's talk," Sima Chun said, surprised at how patient he had become. "I don't feel like we have anything to talk about. But I still need to thank you for bringing my mom to the hospital today." Saying this, she prepared to ride off. Sima Chun lost his temper. He grabbed her like a small chick and pulled her into the car, slamming the door shut. Sima Qing, looking at his furious face, was so frightened that she burst into tears.
