A Heart's Confession

“Qing'er, why aren’t you eating? The food is getting cold,” her mother said, looking at her anxiously. “Mom, I’m not hungry, you eat,” “You didn’t eat at lunch either, child, what’s wrong? Are you unhappy?” Qing’er’s mother asked, tentatively. “No, I just don’t feel like eating, Mom. I’m fine, maybe it’s just that I'm not used to the water and food here,” she said. “Oh, then we should go back to Suzhou,” Qing’er’s mother said firmly. “Mom, we’re not going back to Suzhou now, you need to be treated here. The director has been so kind to us, and he waived all of our medical fees,” she said, not wanting her mother to give up on her treatment. "Child, to me, my illness doesn’t matter. Birth, old age, illness, and death are all part of the cycle of life and are natural. What’s most important to me is that my child is happy and joyful every day. If you’re not happy here in Canada, then we should go back to Suzhou right now.” “But Mom, for Qing’er, you’re the most important thing. You’re my only family member in the world. If anything happens to you, how will Qing’er survive?" Sima Qing’s eyes began to water. “Child, you have to be strong. Doctors can cure illness, but they can’t change fate. If my illness can’t be cured, it's just that my life is destined to be this way. There have been many great people who have died young. I take this very lightly, so I’m saying, you have to learn to be strong. If I really leave one day, my child, you mustn’t be sad, okay?” "Mom will live to be a hundred years old, and Mom won't leave Qing'er. The doctor told me yesterday that the chemotherapy is showing great results.” “Then why is my child not eating?” “Mom, please don’t laugh at me,” Sima Qing said softly, lowering her head. “Go ahead, Mom won’t laugh at you,” “Mom, it’s so strange. These last few days I've been constantly thinking about big brother. At first, I thought it was because I was too free. I kept looking for things to do, but the more I tried to keep busy the more I thought about him. Sometimes when I talk to Mom, Mom’s face will even turn into his face. I was still able to eat a little the last few days, but since yesterday I haven't been able to eat a single bite, Mom. Do you think I’m sick? I’ve never been like this before.” “Child, you’re in love. You’re longing for him, because you’ve fallen in love with him.” “Huh? You’re saying I’m in love with big brother?” Sima Qing asked, her eyes wide. “Has the young master told you he loves you?” “He hasn’t said he loves me, nor has he said he likes me. He’s just been saying some strange things,” Sima Qing said, looking confused. "Can you tell me what they were? Maybe I can help you.” She realized that her daughter needed some guidance in this area. “He said I was his little princess since I was small, that he accidentally lost me, and that I had to suffer a lot. He said he wouldn't lose me again in the future. He said that where he lived was very big and spacious, and that it was our home.” “Oh, I see. Qing’er, the young master is right, you have been his little princess since you were young,” Qing'er’s mother said, nodding assuredly. “Mom, I believe him when he says it. When I listen to his heartbeat, I believe every word he says, because big brother’s heartbeat makes me feel grounded and warm. Even though I can't eat, I feel so happy when I think of him.” “Really?” Qing'er’s mother gave a light smile. First love is beautiful and unforgettable. It's not because he (or she) is so beautiful or so handsome, nor is it because what you can’t have is always the best. It's because those who are new to love have a pure heart, with no selfish intentions. They simply follow their feelings and want to think of him, miss him, love him with everything they have, regardless of the cost. Pureness is the most precious thing in this world, it is what we long for. Longing was sweeping through Sima Chun like a storm. He knew that he would miss her, but he didn’t know that he would think of her at every moment of every day. He had made mistakes several times in meetings, and he didn’t dare call her, afraid that if he heard her voice, he would run back, disregarding everything. So, he worked relentlessly, stabilizing the two securities companies in just seven days. In that entire week, he had barely slept for ten hours combined. This was all to see her again as soon as possible. Sima Qing was sitting on the sofa again, looking blankly into space, completely unaware of anyone entering the room. “Qing'er,” Sima Chun said softly. “Big brother,” she said, standing up, her eyes shining with tears of surprise. He walked over and gently pulled her into his arms, not saying a word. She wanted to lean against his chest and listen to his heartbeat, but she immediately pushed him away. “Mom, big brother’s here,” she said, taking his hand and going into the room where her mother was. “Young Master is back from his business trip,” Qing’er’s mother, who seemed much better after her chemotherapy, said. “I just arrived back in Canada, and your complexion is much better,” Sima Chun said, bowing slightly to her. “Young master, please sit down,” “Auntie, I’d like to take Qing’er out for a bit, is that alright?” “Go ahead, I have the special nurse with me, I’m fine.” Sitting in the car, neither of them spoke a word. The Rolls Royce drove into the Empire Building and went straight up to the 99th floor. He entered the password and the door opened. He bent over and picked her up, using his foot to close the door. She didn't struggle. She naturally wrapped her arms around his neck. He gently placed her on the sofa and laid her down. She obediently placed her arms by her side, not speaking, and only stared deeply at him with her eyes. She could feel his warm breath on her skin, and his uneven breathing. He could hear the thumping of her heart. He knew he couldn't scare her. He gently and tenderly kissed her forehead and her large eyes. “Be good, and close your eyes,” he whispered softly in her ear, Sima Qing obediently closed her crystal clear eyes. 22.8s
