3. Slaying the sea monster

439 Words
Chaos all over the boat! Everyone was running from side to side, trying to get a look of the sea monster underneath us. I’ve heard stories of all kind of monsters, even seen a couple of them. But it’s not the big giant ones I’m scared the most. There are all kind of sneaky bastards swimming down there. Like the parasite morays who finds a hole in your body – any hole –, slither in, and start eating you inside out, keeping you alive as long as it’s finished. Or the ones who have a human’s face, snake’s body, and lion’s claws. I don’t even know what they’re called. Mansnions? Lishamen? ”Can you see it?” ”No, can you?” ”I think it’’s coming up!” ”Yeah, that’s its huge eye! It’s a water cyclops! God help us!” ”Waaaaaa!!!” The Old Ones started to panic, like they always do. But this time they had a good reason. The water cyclops was coming up. That monster has known to eat the whole crews of the boat, rip them apart, one by one. Ok, maybe it’s time to panic now. ”Somebody DO something!” That was my way of panicking. Quite pathetic, I know. The only one who maintained her composure was Noona. ”Only one eye, huh? Ever heard that old story of Ulysses?” ”Uu who?” ”U-lysses, you dumbass!” Not sure what she meant, but something was DEFINITELY coming up, and fast, and it was big. The boat was rocking in the waves. There were bubbles that smelled like… like… oh, thats not bad at all, is that lemon, or maybe lime? Noona took the biggest spear we had and leaned over the gunwale, near the water surface. ”C’mon you nasty ugly bastard, c’mon… a little closer… closer…” The sea cyclops swam up, ready to have a tasty bite of Noona, opened its mouth full of sharp teeth, its single eye wide open, the only soft and tender spot it had in its otherwise metal-hard skin… And that’s exactly where Noona drove her spear. WHACK! Bullseye! I mean Cyclopseye! Without its only eye the monster was helpless, swimming away bleeding, in pain you can only imagine. We all cheered. This was the umpteenth time Noona has saved us all. She was our hero/heroine. With that beautiful hair and shiny horns, big brown eyes and lushy lips… Oh, you know what I mean. ”Everyone’s ok?” She shouted. There were sights of relief everywhere in the boat. I wanted to give Noona a hug. But decided not to. After all, she just slayed a huge sea monster. And she still had the bloody spear in her hand.
