Chapter 1 - Chased by Death

1763 Words
She does not know how they ended up in that place, but all she knows is that she has been running for her life since earlier. She has been trying to escape from this woman who has been chasing her. She thought that she already knew her, but she was wrong. She had no idea that this woman was a beast. "Please, let me live," she pleaded. "Why are you doing this to me?" she asked again. "Why?" exclaimed the young lady. She has been begging to let her go, but it seems like the woman does not hear anything. The woman directed her gaze straight into her eyes. She looks fearless. "I don't know what I have done to you." She's been begging, but it seems like she doesn't hear her at all. She is starting to feel tired, and her legs are shaking. She does not want to run anymore. Her whole body is aching, and she feels like she cannot run as much as she wants to. She knows that she cannot rest because the moment she stops running, it will be an opportunity for the woman to kill her. She does not even look tired. "Let me go home, please," she begged. "Don't do this to me!" she shouted. She tried to stop whatever this woman wanted to do to her. But she is still not hearing her. "I still want to live! P-please!" she fearfully said again. She was stammering. She knows that she will not be able to escape from this monster. But in the back of her mind, she is still hoping that this woman will let her live. "Is it the end of my life? Is this my fate?" she asked herself. Her tears streamed down her face as she cried out loud. Her lips are trembling with fear. She can feel the sweat all over her body. Her long, dark hair was sweaty and kept covering her face. She can feel shortness of breath as she screams. She feels so restless. She feels so helpless. It is as if the world has deprived her, and no one can hear her. Her whole body is shaking. Her legs are trembling with fear as she continues to flee. "Why does it seem no one hears me?" she sobbed. "Did this woman go crazy?" The way she looks gives her a shiver down her spine. She smiled at her diabolically. The pleasure of killing is written all over her face. She looked like a monster who was excited about taking her life. As she moved backward, she did not realize that there was a protruding rock blocking her way. She stumbled upon it. She completely lost her balance and fell on the grass. She gazes at her fiercely. She almost burst into tears as she begged for her life. The woman's lips formed a thin line. She looks so excited upon seeing this girl fall. "Please, don't do stupid things, okay?" She tried to negotiate with her. "I will certainly forgive you if you let me live." A smirk flashed on the woman's lips as she looked at the poor girl. The woman then smiles widely like a predator who is ready to eat her prey. She can see how excited the woman is about what she is about to do. She can see the excitement in her face at seeing blood. The way she holds her knife gives her satisfaction. She seemed to feel no remorse. Senseless. Numb. She seemed to think of nothing but eagerness. Eager for the red, viscous, and slimy blood that will flow from her body, the sounds of a cry seem like music in her ears. The woman grips her knife tightly. She gradually raised her arm while holding it. She has been longing for the blade to penetrate her while she cries out loud. In a snap, blood spurted from the girl's neck. She's overjoyed to see blood all over her body. "No!" she screams at the top of her lungs. The next thing she knows is that she is losing her breath and slowly losing her vision. The knife forcefully landed on her neck, causing her to scream herself to death. The woman smirked while enjoying the view of the lifeless body that was lying in front of her. Her body shook as she lost her life. The blood dripped from her neck. Since she longs for the blood to flow, she stabbed her in the stomach five more times for her satisfaction. The blood continued to flow with her eyes wide open, staring at her unconsciously. It was as if those pair of balls were begging. Her eyes were full of questions as to why this woman she trusted had done this to her. The woman did not even bother to close her eyes. After the heinous crime, she immediately left the victim lying on the grass and bleeding. After she cleaned herself up, she quickly left the crime scene and immediately disappeared. While Marianne was busy waiting at the bus stop, she heard an unexplainable noise. She looks around to check where the noise is coming from, but she seems not to know where. Even though vehicles were passing by and there were people around her, she was still able to hear the noise. She cannot be mistaken. She knows the difference between a scream and the loud noise of a person shouting. She knows that it is coming from a girl and wants to confirm it. She could not quite understand what the scream was about because it was too noisy in the place where she was at the moment. There were vehicle noises all around, as well as people waiting in line, and gossiping was more prevalent. She was sure of only one thing. It is the scream of a woman. Out of curiosity, she decided to look around since the bus had not yet arrived. She tried to find out where that noise was coming from, but unfortunately, it disappeared as well. She continued walking towards the back of the bus stop. She confirmed that the noise was coming from those dense and grassy areas where the government is barely renovating. People in that area were also busy, and so their attention was focused on the things they wanted to do. She was almost close to where the loud noise was coming from when she heard the bus arrive. Instead of checking, since the noise had disappeared, she hurried back to the bus stop to catch it, as it might leave her behind. She immediately hops on the bus to find a seat. It is peak hour, and so the bus gets filled with passengers immediately. There was only one spot left at the back and another next to her, so she just sat there, plus she also had no choice. The bus was about to leave when another passenger chased after it. A woman immediately boarded. She seemed to be in a hurry to ride. She is not that tall, and her estimates are that they are almost the same height. What the woman is wearing caught her attention. She wore a black hat that covered half of her face, and only her red lips and jawline were visible. She also wore a black leather jacket and black pants, as if on purpose. The woman looked around to find a seat as well. And when she saw that no one was sitting next to her, she immediately occupied it. She then sits next to her. Without giving a glance, she can see from the corner of her eye what the woman is doing. She put on a headset and listened to music. "If that can be called music," she whispered. She cannot help but give a glance upon hearing the loud music the woman beside her is playing. She hears terrifying sounds and screams. She could not appreciate that kind of sound, especially since it was deafening. Even if she does not want to listen, she cannot avoid it because it is so close to her. That same sound brought back something in her memory—the sound she had forgotten for a long time. She avoided it and no longer wanted to remember it. She just observed her. She can see what the woman is doing out of the corner of her eye, and she focuses on the woman, who seems strange. The moment she saw this woman, she knew something was off. She knew that there was something about her that she could not say for now, something that was not normal. How did she say that? It's because she has been through that before. In a few minutes, the bus stopped at the corner. The woman hurried downstairs and removed her cap, exposing her long black hair and a well-shaped body. She also notices her smooth face, which was covered by a cap earlier. But before the woman hopped off the bus, she glanced at her seat for a moment. She perhaps wanted to make sure she did not leave anything behind. Marianne stopped for a moment when she saw something inexplicable. There was blood on the side of her pants. Even though it was black, she knew it was blood. Other people may not notice it because it is too small, but it cannot escape her bare eyes. To her, it was so obvious. The blood looks like a mark from a hand. When the woman got off the bus, she immediately followed her. She did not allow her to notice that she was following her. She ensures that she hides well. She makes sure that she is careful in every move. She followed her everywhere she went. When the woman turned into the alley, she went there too. She just then realized that she was now in the market. What was weird about the place was that it was where the slaughtered pigs were. She observed her for a few minutes. She watches her every move and how she looks. She then decided to leave. She had already seen what she wanted to see. After leaving the market, she returned to the bus stop where she had been dropped off earlier and then boarded the bus again. She is not heading in the same direction as she should, but from where she came earlier. At the place where she met the suspicious woman, she just wanted to confirm something. She wanted to know if her suspicions were correct.
