Seraphina's pov
A loud voice ripped me from sleep. "SERA! SERA! SERA!" Sophie, Annoying as ever. I groaned, dragging myself up, and rubbing my bleary eyes. "What is it?" My voice was thick with exhaustion.
Sophie grinned, her smile wide and bright. "Thank goodness you're up!" I was already thinking of crazy ways to get you out of bed.
I pushed myself up, still half asleep. "Sophie, seriously, what's going on?"
Her smile tightened. "I need to start getting ready for the feast," she announced. "And I need your help with it."
I hissed silently, of course. "Sophie, you're already beautiful. I told her, "You don't need anything more".
She pouted, her eyes going wide and pleading. "Sera, please", she begged, putting on her cutest baby face. "I have to be more beautiful. I heard he has this female best friend. My friends say she's really beautiful. I just... I can't have her, make me feel less."
I just chuckled. What else could I do?
Sophie pushed. "Please, please! I'll do all the work. I just need your opinion, your comments on it."
I sighed. "Okay," I mumbled. I pushed myself up, stretching with a huge yawn. She didn't even wait for, She yanked my arm and dragged me straight out of my room, into hers.
I flopped onto her bed, exhausted. I watched her as she started getting herself ready for the feast. She worked on her hair, her face, her outfit.
Every minute, she'd constantly glance my way, asking for my thoughts on every little detail. I'd just smile. Honestly? She was already perfect. She didn't need to change anything, or feel small, just because of some other girl. But Sophie, she would never listen to that. So I sat there, observing and would throw in a suggestion here and there if I see it's necessary.
Hours later, she was finally done. She moved closer, showing off her face, her outfit. "Okay, tell me," she said. "How do I look?"
"Wow," I told her, truly meaning it. "You look incredible."
But she wasn't finished. "What if I do this?" she asked, trying a different pose. "How would I look then?"
My patience snapped. "You look fine, Sophie! "You're already fine!" I practically yelled.
You'd been asking the same question for ages.
Just then, a sharp knock sounded on the door. Thank goddess! I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I stood up fast and pulled the door open. Mother stood there, a soft smile on her face.
"Good morning, Mother," I said.
Sophie's voice chimed in right behind me. "Morning, Mom!"
Mother smiled a soft and warm smile. "Good morning, my lovely daughters." Her gaze shifted from Sophie, resting on me. A hint of confusion crossed her face.
"Seraphina, aren't you attending the feast? "Why aren't you dressed yet?"she asked.
I shook my head. "I'm not in the mood. I'd rather stay home."
Then, I heard a low rumble in my head. Ariana, my wolf, grumbled, and let out a frustrated growl. What was her problem?
Mother's eyebrows were drawn together. She studied me. "Are you sick?" she asked. A worried edge to her voice.
"No, Ma," I told her. "Just don't feel like going."
She pressed. "Are you sure you'll be okay here alone? Your father is leaving too."
"Yes, Mama," I answered fast. "I'll be fine by myself," trying to sound convincing.
Her eyes narrowed at me. Her voice dropped. "You know the pack lands are risky now. Everyone would be at the feast. "Who knows what the rogues might try?" She paused. "Please, just come with us."
"Mama, I'll be fine," I insisted. "I won't leave the house." I'll lock myself up in. "Nothing will happen. "I promise." I tried to sound convincing.
Sophie stepped up, right beside me. "Mom, just let her be," she said, a small smile playing on her lips. "She'll be okay."
Mother nodded slowly. "Okay, Sophie. "Meet me and your father outside when you're ready," and she headed for the door.
Sophie turned back to me. "Are you sure I look okay?" she asked.
"Sophie, for goodness’ sake, you're stunning!" I snapped. My voice was a little louder than I meant.
"I can't wait to see him," she whispered. Tia, her wolf, feels the same. She's been buzzing with excitement since yesterday."
Then Sophie was gone. She practically floated out of the room.
"Good luck to you and Tia," I mumbled. Did she even hear me? Probably not.
I walked out of her room. Locked the main door tightly and went back to my own room ready for more sleep. Finally, some peace and quiet without Sophie’s chatter.

My bed felt like a treadmill. Hours passed, and sleep wouldn't come. My eyes stayed wide open as I kept tossing and turning, still no sleep. I couldn't drift off, not even for a minute.
A frustrated growl ripped from my throat. "SOPHIE!" I yelled , in the empty room.
Then, a voice in my head. Ariana, my wolf, chimed in. "Maybe you should've just followed them to that feast ," she hissed. Her tone was sharp.
Since when did my wolf care? She barely ever spoke. This was new, really new. She usually just stayed quiet. Never care about my choices. It was weird, truly. I pushed her voice away, completely ignoring it.
The silence of the house pressed in. Maybe I should visit "My Peace View" -That rock, my favorite spot. Going there always made me find comfort. I named it Peace View ages ago. The thought of visiting there brought a smile to my face.
Just then, Ariana's annoying voice broke in again, loud and annoying. "Mtchew," she scoffed, a disgusted sound. "Keep going to that rock, see if we ever find a mate." She said again angrily .
I didn't bother replying. I just stood up, to get ready.
