Pearl Gem
The King of the Wolf Empire hadn’t come alone this time. He arrived with his convoy, bodyguards, personal assistants, and his Beta. They all stood by the car while Kade King stood before me, silent, waiting… for an invitation, or anything at all.
My eyes slowly shifted to his face, and my throat instantly went dry. Under his gaze, there was nothing I could do.
“Your Majesty,” I greeted with a bow.
When I looked up, I saw his eyes weren’t on me, but peering past me.
“Can I come in?” He asked.
I paused, torn by uncertainty. What will I suffer from his mother this time if I let him in?
“Please?” He added quietly.
That word, please, tightened something in my chest. Slowly, I opened the door wider, allowing him to walk by. As I turned to close the door, I saw lights flicker on in nearby homes. The omegas were watching. Curious, again, that the King had come.
I steadied my breath in the short hallway, then entered the living room where Kade now stood. He had gravitated to my mother’s portrait once more, but he didn’t touch it.
“She looks exactly like you. Beautiful,” He murmured. Then he turned, and those golden eyes landed on me, heavy with something I couldn’t name."I have been drinking. Smoking... getting High... I thought… I thought I’d go crazy these past days not seeing you.”
His words made my throat tighten. Was this another lie? Another trap?
“I thought I could do it,” He continued, walking toward me. “Just like my father always said I could. Do anything. Endure everything. But I was wrong. I can’t stay away from you. I don’t know why… so I have decided to keep you by my side until I figure out exactly why you are in my head every second of every day.”
He stopped right before me, taking my hand tenderly.
“Let me offer you a real job,” He said, voice soft, gaze steady. “No one loses this time. You will earn more than you can imagine. And I will have you close to me, just like I want…”
I searched his eyes in the silence. But before I could catch my breath, I pulled my hand away and took a step back.
He caught my arm.
“Don’t reject me,” He whispered tightly, voice raw. “Don’t move… not until I say so.”
He was struggling for control. I could feel it in the way his fingers trembled. And I was struggling too. His nearness, his scent, his soft breath, those haunting eyes… it was as if the gods had conspired to carve him from pure sin.
“I can’t be beside you as your fake lover, Your Majesty,” I said, finally finding my voice.
He nodded slowly.
“I know. You will come in as my secretary. You will work at Majesty Corp.”
I froze.
“Majesty Corp is for nobles and royals,” I whispered, disbelieving. “If an omega works there, it’s only to sweep floors.”
“Who owns Majesty Corp?” He asked, calm.
“Y… You do.”
“Then I bring in whoever I choose. And you won’t be sweeping. You will be my secretary. You will work in my department. I will ensure your safety… and your family’s too. All I want is your yes. But I will give you time to think about it.”
I swallowed hard. It was an offer served on a golden platter. A new opportunity, an open door into the Majesty’s world. A way to access their fortune.
Revenge.
That was the first thought that surfaced in my heart. But when our eyes met again, it scattered like ash.
Something else rose to the surface. Something dangerous. Something soft.
His palm came up, quietly caressing my cheek. I closed my eyes, overwhelmed by the flood of emotions. It was surreal. My body didn’t know what to do with the heat it felt. My heart didn’t know it could want this.
Then Kade King Majesty leaned in and took my lips with his. Softly. Tenderly. I closed my eyes again, letting it happen, my first kiss.
I didn’t kiss him back. I just stood there, frozen by the raw, sinful moment. The first time I gave him everything, we hadn’t even kissed. We’d only held hands, shared few words.
But this… this was different.
Time felt suspended, the world holding its breath. When he finally pulled away, I was shocked by the bitter edge of disappointment that settled in my chest.
I fluttered my eyes open to find him staring into me again.
“I will wait for your call,” He said quietly. “Good night.”
I couldn’t respond. I couldn’t speak. I just stood there, heart pounding, breath uneven, listening to the sound of his retreat, the door opening and closing, the hum of his car disappearing down the street.
I stood in the silence. Stunned. Wanting. Wondering.
And suddenly, I felt warm. As if a day, a month, maybe even a year had just been added to my life.
He… he completed me.
But.. why?
