Kade King
It was early in the morning when my personal cellphone began to ring, making me wonder who the hell would dare call me at such a time. I reached for the phone, and the moment I saw the screen, sleep vanished completely.
My Omega.
I swiped the screen and brought the phone to my ear, lying there beneath the duvet as her voice came through.
“Your… Your Majesty?”
I closed my eyes at the sound of those words. If only she’d call me by my name, like she had when she was mad yesterday morning. I opened my eyes, knowing she was waiting for a response.
“Yes?”
Silence followed for a few seconds before she cleared her throat.
“Um… the offer you made to me last night… is it still open?”
I nearly smiled, joy blooming in my chest. Was she saying yes?
“Yes, it is.”
“I will…” She began, then paused. “I will accept it.”
Time seemed to freeze after her words. I could already picture how it would all play out. What I wanted, her, would finally be within reach. I would be able to keep my eyes on her at all times.
“Your Majesty?”
“I will send a ride to bring you here. You will sign the employment contract with Majesty Corp today.”
“What?” she exclaimed. “Your Majesty…”
“Hmm.”
She didn’t speak again. She wouldn’t dare. Not when she felt it too. I had kissed her last night, and I had felt her eagerness… her surrender. She wouldn’t deny what we shared. It was real.
I lay there, caught in a haze of emotions, listening to her breath on the other end, when Drizzel’s palm slid across my chest and her eyes fluttered open.
“Are you talking to someone?” She asked, knowing full well who it was, her gaze settling on the phone still pressed to my ear. Then she leaned in and kissed my chest, making sure whoever was still on the line could hear her loud and clear.
“I’m still tired from last night, Kade. What would you do without me?”
Perfect. Just perfect.
“I will wait for your ride, Your Majesty.”
The voice on the other end was firm, laced with disappointment and restraint. I heard the rustling of movement, the creak of a door, then silence. She hadn’t hung up. She had simply left the room, leaving the phone behind.
I swallowed hard, disappointed in how things had turned out, and disconnected the call.
Suddenly, Drizzel no longer held any interest for me. I pulled away from the bed and made for the bath chamber, already dialing a number.
“Your Majesty.”
“Bring my Omega here, Riven. And be gentle with her.”
I didn’t wait for a response before ending the call. I trusted Riven. Loyal, steadfast Riven, from the House of Vargas. The only man who never bowed to my mother.
I stepped into the large royal bath pool, the warm water rising to my waist as the maids entered quietly to scrub my skin. I kept my gaze lowered, letting the time pass. I knew hell would break loose today.

I was fully dressed when I entered the royal dining room. All heads bow briefly in respect, including my mother, who stood at the head of the table. I walked to my seat and lowered myself gracefully.
“Get all the shareholders here,” I said to Marce, my personal assistant, “and the employment documents for the secretary position.”
A heavy pause settled over the room. My mother was the first to speak.
“Uh… King, why summon the shareholders here to the castle? Why not Majesty Corp?”
“I don’t want her at the company until her official documents are signed. Besides, I want you to meet my new secretary first, Mother. I believe you will be impressed.”
My mother studied me carefully before giving a tight nod.
“Well, that’s good then. Impress me, son.”
Marce, seemingly waiting for her approval, left the room to carry out the instruction. He returned shortly with the documents and placed them gently before me.
“This space here is for the secretary’s name, and these lines are for the signatures of all shareholders of Majesty Corp.”
I gave a short nod and turned slightly.
“Leif. Bring me the Royal seal.”
Gasps filled the room. Leif, my Beta and Drizzel’s older brother, didn’t hesitate. He returned moments later with the Royal seal, a sacred object rarely brought out in public.
He placed it gently on the table before me, and the room went still.
Everyone was clearly wondering who would dare sit in such a prestigious position, and none of them, I was certain, expected an Omega.
Time ticked by. I sipped my coffee just as the sound of a car approaching reached my ears. Footsteps rushed toward the window.
Then came the low, disgusted growl.
“Your Majesty… The Omega is here.”
A Silence fell.
All eyes turned to me, and I looked up at my mother with a calm, pleasant smile.
“Oh yes. I forgot to mention that my secretary is an Omega. My Omega.”
The impact of those words was immediate, a bomb dropped in the center of the room. My mother’s face froze in disbelief.
She had spent weeks reveling in the illusion that she still held power over me. But today, the tide had turned.
She had pushed me one step back and I’d just taken three forward.
This was only the beginning.
And she knew it.
She could feel it.
