Sorry Adelaide. I did try and leave but it has only been a few hours and I miss her.
Like a lovesick puppy.
Two reasons why I was coming back:
1. As I said, I missed her even if we only knew each other a morning
2. I didn't actually know where to go or anyway to contact anyone or where they had set up base.
So, I was hoping that I could use her phone so I could contact the others and see if they can come get me... maybe!? Or would that bring her into more harm!?
I was making my way around the lake to this pub that Abby said she would be at, The Archer I think.
As I reach the pub, I look inside and see other wait staff serving but no Abby. I see a girl who looked a lot like Adelaide head towards the door I just came through with determination in her eyes.
"Er, excuse me? Miss? I am looking for Abby, have you seen her?" I ask, still scanning around the building to see if I could catch a glimpse of her.
She looked at me, casting a judgmental gaze before smirking. "You wouldn't by any chance be the man she had in her house this morning!?" Questioning and she raised her eyebrows.
"What!? Oh.. yerr. That was me..." I cast my gaze down and shuffle on my feet. "Guess you were the lady who phoned her needing assistance here?"
"That's me!" She puffs out her chest "They call me Maeve and you have already had the pleasure of meeting my sister, Adelaide."
Oh great! She will probably tell Adelaide that we were still hanging around.
"She is outback, we kinda have a situation here so I am waiting for the police to arrive to assist." Wait, what? "She may needs some assistance, I am sure she will reward you if you do?" She said mischievously as she walks out front.
Marching with determination out to the beer garden, I clock Abby near the lake, twisting the wrist of this guy in a red polo who looked like an absolute tool.
"Do not EVER touch me or anyone else again! You are banned from this pub, all of you!" You could hear the venom in her voice. I was impressed by her authority and, from the looks of other patrons, so were they. Damn... she was fiesty.
She goes to walk away but the guy she just embarrassed has a face full of fury - he was not done. Sh*t! I start to cover the distance between us as he yells his battle cry.
"YOU B*TCH! YOU NEED TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON!" He goes to take a swing but I managed to catch his fist before he can lay a scratch on her.
We should teach him a lesson he shan't forget.
I grip his hand as hard as I can and bend it backwards. The sound of cracking bones only matched by the screams he made. I stare him down as he clutches his hand in agony. Good! That will teach him!
"Colt!?" I turn to Abby, she stared at me, a stunned look across her face. "You're back..?" A slight smile crept across her face. Glad I wasn't the only one who missed our brief encounter this morning.
"..Hi!" I smile back at her "Are you alright?" I look her over, scanning for any injuries. "I'm fine, my saviour stopped it just in time." she smirked "I guess we are even now."
"What you did for me was worth way more than this, I still am in your debt."
"Well, you can still even it here and now." She points behind us. I turn to see that his buddies were gathered around him and they looked p*ssed.
"You can still maintain whatever dignity you have left if you stand down." I stand in front of Abby, shielding her from these men.
Not that we really need to, she seems to have some guts about her. Reckon she could take them on.
I adjust my posture, making myself look as big and as intimidating as I can. I can feel Abby's breathe start to pick up behind me. I could take them in a fight if needed, but I had to watch my strength; evident by the man who's hand I had just broke.
He deserved it!
The men stare between other, debating their next move. Don't do it!
They shrug and all get into fighting stances. I sigh in annoyance, I was still recovering a bit from last night.
"POLICE! STAY WHERE YOU ARE!" I glance behind me to see almost a dozen police officers round the pub towards us, with Maeve giving orders, instructing them on which ones were causing trouble.
The officers swiftly detain and arrest the men, including the one who's hand I broke; they gaze turned to me when they found out that fact.
"Is that true, sir? Did you break this man's hand?" One officer inquired, sizing me up. "It is true officer, but I only did so in defense of this lady." I usher Abby next to me "He was about to punch her in the face in retaliation for her kicking them out of her mother's pub."
"It is true officer. And these men have been harassing the female staff all day - we all have witnessed their appalling behaviour." An elderly gentleman came over, looking at Abby with adoration in his eyes. I can see her mouth a silent 'thank you' to his response.
"I see, we will be needing statements from all of you. We will get these men to custody and deal with it from there."
"Thank you officer, and please may you make sure they understand that they are never welcome back here again!?" Abby states, giving a disgusted glance over all the men being taken away.
They are soon escorted to the police cars and the other patrons settle back to their days. Abby thanks the gentleman, who she called Bruce, and turns to me with a gentle smile.
"How about I fix you up with a drink and some snacks? I think I can treat you as a thank you."
