6 - Colt POV

1137 Words
The roars. The screams. The cries. All encompassing me as I drift through this darkness. My only rest bite from this endless abyss was the occasional memory flashing across my eyes - memories I wish I would forget. Dead... all of them... every image of someone I knew that died in front of me that night. Dad...no... That one kept taunting me, the final look on my father's face as his neck was snapped in front of my eyes. I needed to escape this. Needed to get out of this constant nightmare. I try struggling, trying to grasp onto something, anything, that will take me out of this hellhole. Wake up! My arms flail in front of me as I feel my body sink downwards, becoming heavier and heavier the further I fall. WAKE UP! WAKE UP NOW! *Gasps* My lungs inhale as much air as they can, grasping for every bit as life begins to flow through my body. Eyes blurred, I try and gain some idea where I am. I can feel that I am lying down on something. A bed? A sofa? We were in the woods though!? Alexis and her cronies were beating the sh*t out of us. Maybe I was in their lair and this was a torture table. I shift slightly and feel something over me. Glancing down, I see a blanket draped over my body. Huh? My eyes adjusting, I scan the surroundings. Wallpaper walls, wooden cabinets and leather sofas with a TV opposite. Am I in someone's living room? "Ah good, you're awake." A lady walks in wearing a paramedic uniform. "My name is Adelaide and you are one lucky b*stard." She pulls out a small torch and starts shining it in my eyes before she goes back to checking other parts of my body, jotting down her notes onto her clipboard. "Get dressed, these were in the back of my car and should fit you but it's all I had." Adelaide chucks a pile of clothes at me which land on my torso. I slowly adjust myself, wincing through the aches and pains as I try and sit myself up. "I suggest you get dressed and leave as soon as possible." Her eyes meet mine, a death stare greets me. She was sitting on the other sofa, analysing my every movement. "I know what you are. What you truly are! And these just confirm it." She holds up the throwing knives to my face. Shit! Exposure is bad news. "Don't worry, I will be taking them to be destroyed." Adelaide answered my thoughts, making me sigh in relief. "I am not doing this for you, I am doing this for Abby." Abby? "She brought you here after she found you in Sherwood Forest, along with your friend's toys." She was seething in a silent anger. It was evident how much she cared for this Abby. "Do me a favour and keep her out of what ever trouble you are in. She has a good soul and I will not let you or anyone else destroy it." She leans in, staring into my eyes, searching for something, perhaps to confirm if I would agree or see my next move. "Alright, get dressed. Abby is making breakfast and will probably have done some for you so you can eat that but then I want you gone." She turns her back to me to give me privacy to change. I stand slowly and begin removing what was left of my clothes from last night; they pretty much fall off and create a pool on the floor. *Ding* Looking up towards where the noise came from, I smell a mixture of food waffed towards me - it's enticing. Eggs, bacon and... berries? I was intrigued, it called to me that smell. The clothes Adelaide gave me become a distant memory as I discard them on the floor, following my nose to the kitchen across the hall, my eyes settling on the girl who was busy setting the table. Wow... She's beautiful. I am speechless, words couldn't describe how much I was encapsulated by her. He raven hair such a contrast to her snow white skin. "Ads, breakfast is ser-AHHH!" She jumped back as she turned and clocked me standing there. Our eyes meet and I could not take my eyes away. Her eyes start shifting then her cheeks flushed red as she forced herself to look up. We really should have put the clothes on before we came in. I take a step towards her, she doesn't step away, a look of surprise does cross her face however. A few more steps and I was right in front of her. I just.. gaze into her deep blue eyes; I could have got lost in these forever. "Hi." She breaks the tension between us. Her voice. That voice. That was angelic voice from the forest. This is Abby. Not a moment longer, I lower myself down and hug her, resting my head into her neck. She smelt like strawberries. I can feel her return the hug after a few moments. She is the one! She saved me. "Ahem!" Guess Adelaide was still here. "Whilst this is nice and all, could you please put some clothes on and let her go?" I reluctantly pull away a few inches, and steal a glance back at Abby. "Sorry..." was all I could muster. That earnt me a giggle. "That's ok, I was just caught off guard by the hug and that you are..." Her eyes begin to wander down before she thrusts her head over her shoulder. "Why don't you get changed and then you can have breakfast?" She suggests whilst maintaining a glance away. "Adelaide, I have buttered your roll, just pick and pile up what you want in it." "Thank you, Abby. I will take this then be on my way. Got another call to attend to." Adelaide bumps into me and pulls me down slightly "Remember what I said" She releases me and walks over to Abby who is at the table, frowning at us both. I nod my head when she looks back this way, earning a small smile. "You can use the lounge or there is a bathroom at the top of the stairs." And with that, I go to get changed, closing the door for privacy. I don't want to creep her out too much. I am sure being hugged by a naked man was already pushing it. I hear the front door open and close - Adelaide, I guess. Quickly chucking on the jeans and white t-shirt, I make my way back to the kitchen. Abby looks up from her seat and smiles at me. "Hope you are hungry as it appears I have made quite a bit."
