Elowen's POV
I stirred awake, feeling pain in my side. I slowly opened my eyes to find myself lying on a cold floor, chained in a dungeon.
I groaned in pain, holding my head as the memories came rushing back. The pack turned against me, my best friend betrayed me, calling me a blood-sucking vampire in front of everyone. My mate rejected me and made Raven his Luna in my stead and my father—
I covered my mouth, the chains rattling as I moved my hands. I didn't know if he was OK. I passed out after going into labor.
"My baby," I gasped in horror, looking down to see that my stomach was still protruded, my baby was OK, and I was no longer in labor, but how?
"You have Raven to thank for that sweetheart. She gave you some drugs to slow down the arrival of the bastard in your belly," Caden stood outside, watching me.
"Caden," I called, trying to reach out to him, but the chains drew me back, stopping me from reaching him.
"You have to get me out of here, Caden, I'm going to have your baby. You can't treat me like this! You can't treat the baby like this," I sobbed, pleading with him.
"You still don't get Elowen, do you?" he asked, his eyes cold and full of nothing but hatred.
"You are part vampire and werewolf and that baby in your belly is going to share in your misery and become a vampire as well. " You honestly don't expect me to accept a blood sucker as my heir, do you?"
"But it's your baby," I sobbed, my heart aching from all the betrayals and pain I've had to face all in one day.
"A blood sucker is no child of mine and I won't allow a bastard to taint the pure bloodline of my family," he spat in disgust, making it pretty clear to me that he wanted no part in the birth of my baby. I stopped struggling and just sobbed silently, wondering why I was being punished this way. I never wanted any of this. All I wanted was a happy life with my mate and baby, surrounded by people that loved me, but everyone seemed to have turned against me.
"Raven is my new Luna, Elowen, and soon she will be carrying my child. You need to accept the rejection and leave this pack never to return again."
I slowly looked up, meeting his cold eyes. He was no longer the Caden I loved. I am certain of that now. The Caden before me right now wouldn't hesitate to drive a stake through my heart. That was the extent of his hatred for me.
Maybe I was not destined to have a mate, a family member or a friend, since I lost all in just a day.
"Elowen," Caden called threateningly, and I wiped away my tears, summoning what was left of my strength.
"Fine Caden, since you are so eager to rid yourself of me, I guess the best I can do is free myself from your sorry ass as well," I smiled, and I watched his eyes darken in rage, and it gave me pleasure seeing him furious.
"I, Elowen Stark, first daughter of Elder Jacob Stark, accept your rejection, Caden Jacobs." My wolf whimpered in pain as what was left of the bond between us was shredded to pieces and what was left was a hollow space in my heart.
I hardened my face, refusing to show any pain even though it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest. I wouldn't give him the pleasure of seeing me in pain.
"Thank you, Elowen," he smiled, stepping away.
"Raven darling, she is all yours now." Raven emerged from the darkness, smiling, and I felt my chest constrict in pain as I watched Caden walk out without much of a backward glance.
"Why are you doing this, Raven? I trusted you, I trusted you with my secret. I took you as my sister. Everything that was mine I shared with you."
"Not everything, Elowen. Don't be such a snob. You never shared Caden with me," she snorted, rolling her eyes.
"He was my mate Raven! He was mine! I couldn't possibly share my mate with you!"
"That's the thing I hate, Elowen! You only give me the things you discard and never the desirable ones. You see, I liked Caden first, but you took him away from me," she glared at me, pissed.
"The moon goddess made him my mate, Raven. How is any of this my fault?"
"The fact that you existed makes it all your fault, Elowen!" She banged her hands on the iron doors, scaring me.
"If you never existed, Caden would have been mine from the onset, but your existence stole him away from me. I couldn't sit back and allow you to have all the good things while you leave the crumbs for me, Elowen. I deserve to get good things too."
I shook my head in disbelief, wondering how stupid I'd been all this while thinking Raven was ever my friend. I had to be the most stupid person on this earth right now.
"I have just one question, Raven. "Our friendship, was any of it ever real or have you always hated me from the start?" I asked, and a smirk slowly formed on her face. She moved forward, grabbing hold of the iron bars and looking inside to meet my eyes.
"I've always hated you, Elowen, from the first moment you took my hands and offered me your food when we were 10. You were all I wanted but could never have and so every single day I wake up to see your face. I hated you so much that I wanted to strangle you and take over your life, but somehow I managed to remain your friend through it all."
A tear slipped out of my eyes, rolling down my checks as she took a step back, smiling in satisfaction.
"I can't believe I've held that in for so long. I've always wanted to say this. I'm glad I finally got the chance to tell you my mind, aren't you?" She asked, and I remained silent, refusing to answer her.
"Well, I am if you're not. To celebrate our little soul-bearing moment, I have a little gift for you." She walked away, heading towards the next dungeon and dragging my father out by the hair.
"Dad!" I yelled, trying to rush to him, but the chains pulled me back.
"Elowen," my dad muttered weakly.
"I'm fine," he assured me, weakly.
"Let him go, Raven! Please, he has nothing to do with any of this," I struggled with the chain, pleading. She had a crazy glint in her eyes, and I was scared of what she was going to do to my father.
"You know Elowen, I've always wondered what would happen when you finally drink blood and accept your blood-sucking nature since you've been shying away from it," she smirked maliciously, dragging her claws down my father's neck, drawing blood, his wound refusing to heal.
I immediately withdrew back to the wall, unable to resist the insatiable hunger I was feeling for blood, my father's blood.
"What did you do to me?" I cried out, horrified at how I was feeling.
"I might have snapped your neck after you passed out, and now I think you're in. What is it called again?" She frowned, thinking.
"Transition," I gasped in horror.
"Yes, that's the word," she smiled, gleefully.
"Now you just need to drain him of his blood and become a full-fledged vampire, or you refuse to feed, and you die with the little bastard in your belly."
I wrapped my hands around my belly, tears rushing down my cheeks. This can not be happening. I can't possibly kill my father. I can't allow my baby to die either.
"What will it be, Elowen?" She smirked devilishly, opening the door and throwing my father inside.
"It's OK, Elowen, everything is going to be fine. You just need to feed and save yourself and the child," Dad smiled, trying to reach out to me.
"No, don't touch me!" I yelled, trying to fight the urge to sink my teeth into his neck and drain him dry.
"Listen to me, Elowen, they are going to kill me anyway. I would rather die, saving my daughter's life, knowing she and the baby are safe, than die at the hands of those scoundrels. Do your old man a favor, Elowen, kill me and save yourself."
"But I can't, I can't," I cried, digging my claws into my skin to hold myself back.
Dad drew himself closer to me, and it became more difficult to resist.
"Don't think about it, Elowen, just think about your hunger and feed on me," he smiled.
I felt my fangs come out and the next thing I sank my fangs into his neck and he gasped as I sucked him dry.
"I love you, Elowen," he muttered as I ripped his vein out, killing him.
"OK, that was one heck of an emotional moment. I can't believe I cried," Raven wiped her eyes, pretending to cry while tears rushed down my eyes as I refused to look at the lifeless body of my father.
I killed him.
I killed my own father.
"So tell me Elowen, how did that feel?" She asked, smirking.
"I'll kill you," I growled, my entire body filled with rage.
"I'll kill you!" I yelled in fury, kicking the iron bars open as I attacked her, pushing her to the ground.
"Elowen," her eyes widened in horror, fear flashing through her eyes.
"You want fun, I'll show you fun," I growled, ready to sink my fangs into her neck when two bullets were lodged into my back.
"Arghhh!" I yelled in pain, getting up with speed and ripping the head of the shooter.
"Raven!" I heard Caden yell as he came rushing towards our direction with several guards. I couldn't kill Raven now, I needed to escape and save myself first.
That instant, a prang of pain hit me, as I went into labor again.
"Not again," I growled, and Raven chuckled.
"Can't kill me now, can you?"
I glared at her, my eyes burning in fury, but I knew she was right. I can't kill her now, but I was definitely going to kill her.
"You get to live today, Raven, count your days because I'm coming to kill you!" I threatened before taking off.
I ran for my life groaning in pain as the baby threatened to come out and Caden's wolves chased after me.
"Hold on a little more baby," I cried out in pain as I crossed the moon stream, losing a footing as I fell to the ground, unable to keep moving.
The wolves soon caught up with me, as I laid on the ground, my hands wrapped around my belly.
"Don't worry baby, mummy will keep you safe," I muttered as they circled me.
"Any last words, Elowen?" Aidan asked, standing over me.
"Mark my words, I'll kill every single one of you and make you suffer for what you did to me!" I threatened, gritting my teeth in anger.
"A dead wolf can't take revenge. Goodbye Elowen." He attacked me, going for my heart with his claws when his head was suddenly ripped off his neck.
"Ahhh!!!" I screamed in horror, crawling on my back away from his headless body. The other wolves were frightened, trying to fight the enemy in the darkness, but they couldn't because the enemy was the darkness.
Every single wolf fell lifeless to the ground till there was none standing. A dark figure suddenly appeared out of the darkness, slowly approaching me and I moved away, stricken with fear.
"Please don't kill me," I pleaded, slowly losing consciousness.
"Please."
The dark figure crouched down to my level and I got the chance to stare into his eyes, my entire world freezing as my wolf stirred awake before my eyes shut close to the world.
"Mate......"
