“The Martins immigrated from Germany a long time ago and became citizens of Canada. Both their children, Irene and Luke, were born in Canada. Then their cousins in Germany thought it would be good for their daughter, June Baker, to come to university here to learn better English. June was very pretty and the Martin family was surprised when she arrived because June and Irene could have been twins. Irene wasn’t very pleased because she was used to being the pretty girl and wasn’t ready to share her popularity.”
I watched Otto nod.
