Chapter 3

1364 Words
Ivy's POV “Your lover, huh?” Jacob asked, looking at me with his brow raised. I mentally slapped myself for my rash reaction. “Aah, about that, I didn't mean it like…" I tried to explain, but he cut me off. “Well, I wish you could be, but I can't have my long-lost twin sister as a lover,” he said, making my smile freeze instantly. “Twin sister? What are you talking about?” I said, This time all my attention to him. “It's a long story, Ivy, but you are our long-lost sister,” he explained as he sat on the bed holding my hand. “I want to hear it. I grew up in the orphanage. I have no family,” I muttered, my voice matching the confusion in my face. “We have been looking for you, and I found you by chance at the party Caleb organized,” Jacob explained, gritting his teeth as he mentioned Caleb's name. “I'm so sorry I didn't know I was invited to celebrate my sister's pain,” he apologized as he hugged me in comfort. As he engulfed me, I couldn't help but feel safe. Finally, I had people to protect me… a family. “You said ‘we’ have been looking? Does that mean I have another sibling?” I asked as we pulled away from the embrace. Happy tears cascading down my cheeks. “Yes, there's Logan. He is the eldest, and there, Steven, who is the youngest,” Jacob explained, smiling at me. “Parents?” I asked, but I'm not sure whether I wanted to hear of the people who thought I wasn't vital enough to keep. “Mom is very sick. She was continually looking for you. Dad, on the other hand, we don't talk," Jacob explained, shrugging his shoulders as he talked about his father. “Mom will be so excited to see you. I already told them I found you. They are all excited to meet you,” he said, his excitement like earlier unconcealed. Though he shed some light on the situation, unanswered questions lingered in my mind. “Don't worry, all your questions will be answered in due time, siz,” Jacob reassured as if he could read my mind. “For now, I will help you deal with that son of a b who hurt you,” Jacob said, making me smile as he avoided the curse word. “Your discharge papers are here. Let's get going,” Jacob announced as he walked into the room. It's been two days, and he never once got tired of staying by my side. For some reason, I was eagerly awaiting this day. “Logan will be arriving in an hour, and Steven is almost at the house. They can't wait to meet you,” he said as he drove out of the hospital parking lot. I could swear he carried all the craziness as my twin. For once in my life, I felt alive and not alone anymore. Unlike Caleb, who married me so he could inherit his father's company. I really belonged with Jacob. He was like the other part of me. After listening to him talking for two hours, the car finally pulled into a compound. As the gates opened up, a massive mansion came into view, making me gasp. Just how rich were the Mc Claires? As the car stopped, a man in his late fifties approached us. “Welcome home, Mr. McClaire, Miss McClaire," he said, helping me out of the car. I couldn't get enough of the view around the mansion. The door opened, but I didn't get a chance to take in the view when, out of nowhere, a man with brown hair around 5'7, lifted me up in excitement. “Welcome home, siz,” he said as he swirled me around in excitement. Just what kind of family was I born into? I couldn't help but wonder, but the question mocked me back, given my craziness. “Put her down, Steven; she just got discharged,” a deep voice came from behind us as Steven, the youngest, set me down. “Thank you very much for allowing me to use my legs,” I jested before I could stop myself. “See, she really is my sister,” Steven said, bursting into laughter. My eyes fell on the man who couldn't be missed in the room: sharp jaw, grey eyes, and a tuxedo on him. “Hello, Ivy,” he greeted in his deep voice, definitely the women's charm. He pulled me into a hug, embracing me so tight. I couldn't help but smile. Despite his serious face, he appeared to be such a softy on the inside. “Mom?” I asked as I looked around the room, but she was not there. “She couldn't make it. She was on dialysis today. We will fly out to meet her once you are fully recovered,” Logan explained as he hugged me again. At dinner, I couldn't get rid of all the attention they gave me. Made me forget for a while what had happened to me. The doorbell rang as we all sat in the living room watching some movie Steven chose. They all exchanged looks as I followed suit. “Is there another brother or sister I haven't met?” I asked, looking at them with my eyes, brows raised. “Trust me, honey, if there was, you could have met him or her already,” Steven said, making the other chuckle. Logan walked to the door as we all went back to the movie. Before long, he walked back, but not alone this time. “Hello everyone,” a deep voice greeted from behind us. I couldn't tell how fast I turned my head towards the source of the voice. Logan's voice was deep and charming, but the new voice was different. Setting ablaze the broken pieces in my heart. “Yoo, Xander, I didn't know you were coming, man,” Jacob said as he got up to greet him. My eyes locked with his ocean blue eyes. He was almost Logan's height but slightly taller. He was about 5'9” compared to my 5'6”. “Nice to see you too, man,” Alexander replied, his eyes still on me. His built body left my imagination wild as his full, muscled arms stretched the shirt he wore. As he greeted Steven, I swore I could feel my throat dry at seeing his lips move. No one deserved to be so sexy. My core clenched at just imagining his body on mine. I quickly facepalmed myself at how far my thoughts had traveled. 'Oh god, I was never one to imagine wild things but unfortunately he had a way of making me melt at first glance. I have never felt like that before, not even with Caleb, who I thought was my everything. “Meet my twin sister, Ivy,” Jacob introduced me, making me jump slightly at the mention of my name. My face turned red as I felt exposed on what was running through my mind. “Ooohkay, tigress, fall back. Xander has a way of making the ladies melt on first sight,” Steven had to be Steven and shred the last of my dignity. “Steven!!” Logan and Jacob called him out to save me from embarrassment, but Steven just mouthed a “what?” To his brothers. “Miss Ivy, it's nice to finally meet you,” Alexander cleared his voice as he shook my hand. Just from our skin touching, I could have sworn I felt tingles travel through my spine. “Nice to, um…meet you too,” I answered, my face still hot. I could have sworn I had seen him somewhere, I just didn't know where. “Okay, Xander, why don't you come with me? I have something to discuss with you” Logan saved the moment as he walked away with Alexander. For some reason I knew those ocean blue eyes were going to haunt me all my nights.
