TwentyCrowds of visitors filled Chinatown’s main street, clustering around the Hou Wang Miao temple and the dozen or more small enclosures and altars that had been set up around it. It was a brilliantly lit festive scene, priests in white robes and light blue satin caps carrying lighted tapers singing incantations as they followed a clamorous group of musicians under trees hung with bright red lanterns.
