USS TEUTHIS—BELLINGSHAUSEN SEAUSS TEUTHIS—There is something to be said for traveling at 500 feet in Antarctic waters. Sonar detected no contacts during our entire five-day transit. Because we were carrying Mystic, we were limited to ten knots, of course. Otherwise, we could have traveled at flank the entire distance, making it a four-day trip—if we dropped to 1,000 feet.
