Nicole smiled at the young dwarf maid who brought them a platter of bread and cheese. King Walsias quickly waved her away and continued with his speech that was directed toward Prince Cabal, “After you are refreshed I will send for the surgeons to give us a report on young Mikado. Until then please eat your fill and tell me what news you have of Fortress City. I understand there are more changes in store once the reconstruction is complete.”
Cabal frowned and glanced down at the plate of food. Another young maid appeared with a platter of jewel-encrusted golden goblets. She handed out the goblets and more maids came behind her, offering to fill them with a variety of wines or ales.
