THE DINING HALL WAS larger than a football field. Jack chuckled as an army of dwarf maidens brought in trays of steaming vegetables and platters of savory meats. He laughed outright as dwarf soldiers rolled in kegs of ale and wine. “Why bother with pitchers,” he chuckled and slapped Cabal on the back. “The dwarves really know how to throw a party.” Cabal frowned at him. Jack’s smile vanished as their eyes met and he added, “Sorry, I know we’re not here for a party but I’m sure the healers have Mikado’s illness under control or we would have heard something by now. Besides, Sarah doesn’t seem upset over your announcement. Nicole will be calming down any time now and should join the party soon.
