Chapter Two The sky cleared as they walked past the giant trees that served as a summer home to many of the woodland elves. A gentle breeze sent the frozen trees into motion, sending thin shadowy fingers of moonlight sparkling across the unbroken blanket of snow. Even in the dead of winter, the canopy under the trees was swept clean of snow and ice. A light sheen of snow glimmered from the benches and the snow-draped fountain as they past. Most of the cabins beyond the canopy were dark and silent. It was late into the night. The village slept. Yet the soft glow of candlelight could be seen from one of the small cabins near the edge of the village. That was where Tom and Pony took Hopper. The tall trolls’ pace slowed only once when they passed a cabin that held the Queen’s Dragon Crest. H
